A Quick Review of the Final Coaches Poll
As noted by 2Bearnest in the Fanshots, the final USA Today Coaches Poll was released this morning (Link here). Let's not forget these polls make up 1/3rd of the BCS formula. Bo Pelini ranked Texas #1 so maybe we should lay off the "Stay Classy Bo" talk for a while. Texas also received #1 rankings from Bobby Akey of Idaho, Tim Brewster of Minnesota, and Mark Dantonio of Michigan State.
Among the most stunning decisions, I submit the following:
1) Les Miles (LSU): ranked Cincinnati 8th! Behind 2 loss teams Oregon and Ohio State!
2) Charlie Weatherbie (UL-Monroe): Was the only coach to rank Texas 4th (behind TCU and Cincinnati) despite UT ripping apart his team to the tune of 58-20. Imagine what Cinci would have done to them! Okay, all those teams are undefeated, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt on that. Then Mr. Weatherbie completely omitted LSU! In his eyes, LSU isn’t Top 25 caliber, but Troy, East Carolina, and Houston are. He also had Northwestern at 16!
3) Dewayne Walker (New Mexico State): Didn’t think Nebraska and Ndamakong Suh were top 25 material, but was the only coach to rank Nevada!
4). Gary Pinkel (Missouri): Pinkel ranked Boise State 9th. Yes, 9th, behind Oregon (who they beat) and Ohio State.
5) Troy Calhoun (Air Force): Coach Calhoun thought Florida was so impressive in the SEC title game that he wanted to give them a chance at a rematch! Yes, he ranked Florida #2 ahead of Big 12 Champ Texas, TCU, and Cinci.
Did anyone else spot an indefensible ranking?

The two coaches who ranked a five-loss OU
Bob Stoops for the obvious homerism.
And Bobby Bowden for having ranked more eventually-unranked teams than anyone else.
Bowden's Poll is worthy of its own FanShot.
And Stoops was one of only three people who kept Florida at #3. I guess if anyone knows how good Florida and TCU are it’s Bob Stoops (they’ve both handed him losses).
Bowden's Poll is hilarious
I think he was just like screw it, I’m on my way out, I’ll just vote for all my favorite teams.
If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!
Can someone please post Bowden's ballot?
I’m having trouble finding it online and every time I google image search “old white man’s picks” I get disgusting images.

Did Mack not vote?
I can’t find him on this chart, but the other sites are still showing 59 first place votes.
What am I missing?? Thanks in advance.
I thought it was funny how all the non AQ teams voted the Non AQ teams the highest.
ULM coach is a little bitch
He's also unemployed
Contract not renewed last week.
As to “bad voting” — last time I checked, we were still a democracy. I can see Cincy at No. 8; their defense wouldn’t stop a lot of the top offenses. Tthe Big East is not highly regarded. I can see ranking OU; the teams that beat them are all ranked except for Tech (8-4), and only Tech beat ’em badly; the other four losses were by a combined 12 points.
Now, as to Bowden’s ballot . . . guess the guy showed what he thinks of the process. Good riddance. Ticks me off the ACC and the bowls bowed to Poor Bobby’s desire to play in a Florida game. Bowl system has its sucky aspects; one of them is 6-6 FSU playing in the Gator while 9-3 Virginia Tech plays in the Chic-Fil-A.
How much, if anything, did we pay to play UL Monroe
if it is even a nickel we should stop.
Pelini had us #1
Surprising considering members of his staff implored us not to accept the Big 12 trophy.
Mark D’Antonio also had us #1. Last year he was one of several coaches who inexplicably had us at #5 on the final regular season poll.
