I hope Colt doesn't win the Heisman.......
Not really, he deserves it and it would be great for him and Texas, however, I believe not winning it would completely take the pressure off and motivate Colt in an extreme fashion to beat Alabama ,Especially if Ingram wins it.
It sure worked for VY against Sothern Cal. The history of Heisman winners in bowl games is not good.
Either way its going to be good for Texas.
By the way....Vegas just came out with their preliminary odds for the BCS Championship game......
Bama by 4.5.........Interesting to say the least.

Correction
The Heisman hasn’t been good to winners in the 2000s, but it was pretty good to the winners in 1990s.
I, for one, hope he does
He doesn’t deserve it, and won’t win, but I’ll root for the guy. Curse or no.
But...
What if Toby Gerhart takes it home? That may piss off Ingram even more. Either way, congrats to Colt for a great year and an absolutely stellar Texas career.
Every time I feel down and depressed, I think of seven simple words by a true wise man, Matt Leinart: "I still think we're the better team" and I usually end up hurting myself by laughing so hard.
I think he deserves it, but I view it as a cursed trophy
Ever since Reggie Bush won the Heisman while playing pro football (and by pro I mean taking money while still in college) every winner of the Heisman has lost their bowl game. It may not be a real trend but let’s face it on some level the Heisman is a glorified popularity contest with a lot of people trying to get more deserving players like Suh nominated to make things more interesting. I also am of the belief that being snubbed always helps drive a player so that’s my 2 cents on the issue.
Why not give it after the bowls?
You make a good point that not winning the Heisman can serve as a great bowl motivator. Some of the TV sports gurus have also commented on the negative effects of all the post-Heisman interviews, appearances, and other distractions on the player and whole team.

Answer
It’s a useful tool to hype bowl games for ratings. You can double dip ratings from the award ceremony and the bowl game the winner is playing in. Really, there should be a post bowl award that is given for best individual performance in a bowl game that year. It wouldn’t carry as much prestige as the Heisman used to, but it would give reasons to watch games you normally wouldn’t to see how the star players on each team performs.
What do we do if somehow Colt McCoy ends up on an NFL team starting against Vince Young?
it makes no sense!
i really pisses me off that the Heisman board makes their decision based on the last game instead of the entire season…it honestly seemed clear to me that colt was dominating the race but for some reason since tebow wasn’t having a great year they kept on saying that there wasn’t a clear leader, the media has serious beef with Texas and its been clear since VY was robbed of the award back in ’05…i hope colt leads the horns to victory in the natl champ game.
i dont gerhart would be a bad choice because he has been a beast all season long with no bad games played, its just a shame that the reverse discrimination that the nfl has towards white running backs will have him playing fullback and never really have the chance to show what he can do as a full-time rb!
All I want for Christmas is for Texas to move to the SEC and destroy those overrated chumps!!!
Motivation
Do you really think McCoy needs more motivation?
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
