These are actual spring semester classes (which apparently start a lot earlier than spring classes at UT), and not "winter session" classes.

Reality check.

Hey, I like football. I’d like to do the glass football-confetti-parade deal again. (Nice to be able to say “again” on this topic.)

But football’s leisure time. It’s fantasy. It’s not life. We shouldn’t be canceling work, social obligations, meetings, classes, trips just because a college we care about is playing on national TV.

IMO

After we won in 2006

I called in sick to work the next day. Of course I was sick, but that had more to do with the copious amounts of alcohol I celebrated with.

I also had to have my wife call my dentist and reschedule my cleaning, cause I was too hungover to get out of bed. Or talk.

From a Bama fan's viewpoint

My understanding is that they are not necessarily cancelling class, they are postponing it. One news article I read stated that students wil have to make up for the missed classtime.

The semester was suppse to start on Wednesday, they are just postponing class becuase they know that they would get better participation if they just delayed the start and have the students make up the lost time over the semester.

I promise you if Bama were playing in New Orleans, there would be no cancelled classes since the drive is ony 4 hours.

Roll Tide!

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
