Key to blitzing Texas
I think I have found why Nebraska was able to blitz so successfully against Texas. I know you're thinking its because of Suh. Yes Suh had a great game. Yes our O - Line has had better years, but Nebraska's coaches did something very simple...
Nebraska simply would wait until Colt gave Chris Hall the hike signal. This is pretty easy to see if you re-watch any part of the game. On most plays Nebraska defense would line up in a typical 4 - 3 defensive front. Then once Colt and the offense has finished reading the defense. Colt gives the hike signal and Nebraska would change the front and blitz package before the ball was hiked. This pretty much ensured Colt was not able to audible out of any plays.
I hope our offensive staff is able to see this. This is one reason the uptempo under center works as it also prevents the defense from know exactly when the ball will be snapped.
Let me know your thoughts...

I didn't actually play football, but...
I’m pretty sure the only person who knows exactly when the ball is going to be snapped is Chris Hall. You’ll notice that after Colt signals, Hall will look forward before snapping the ball.
As for shifting after the signal, there is no guarantee that the defense you shift into is going to be successful. Further, going under center does not keep the defense from shifting after the QB audibles.
The Offensive Line struggles against Nebraska were nothing new. This OL has looked average all season, regardless of the opponent and whether their defense shifted late or not.
I didn't play a ton of offense, but when I did, we had the snap count down
So I’d be surprised if Hall’s the only guy who knows when the snap’s coming.

Also to note
Nebraska didnt really need to blitz, I think they did so as a novelty. They could have gotten pressure on Colt by rushing Suh only and dropping 11 into coverage. I think the struggles of the o-line is what needs to be worked on and in particular, pass blocking.
The "Big Bang" was actually a Will Muschamp chestbump......with the Earth!
10, not 11 into coverage...

You mean rushing four and dropping everyone back isn't the key?

The only thing that Colt's signal does
Is alert Hall that he is ready for the snap. This ploy is used in shotgun offenses, especially in a loud atmosphere as the whole line cannot hear the snap count but can keep an eye on the ball.

Every time though Chris looked forward and snapped the ball.
Meaning the defense would disguise the coverages until that moment. Nebraska did blitz quit a few times. There were some zone blitzes as well..
blitzing
nebraska really seemed to bring the pressure on 3rd and long when they wanted to make sure Colt would get rid of the ball quickly. they bring the pressure, the wr’s can’t run their routes to the 1st down marker and colt has to check down to the RB or WR thats running short or he holds it and takes the sack or throws it away.
