ET Not a lock to come back, 50-50
can't blame him...
...Then someone asked Thomas what he would do if he received a first-round grade. Would he go then? "I'm pretty sure I would," Thomas said. "I came to college to make money. First-round money, I haven't seen it. Nobody in my family has ever seen it. I'm not going to turn that down."

I hope he just settles on that answer
because it’s a lot different than his previous answer. we won’t hate you for leaving ET (I think most Texas fans will be happy for you), just be honest and consistent when the question comes up.

Good decision for him and his family
As a college professor, however, I do hope he comes back to finish his degree. The experience of a college education, exposure to new ideas, and development of critical thought brings advantages in life beyond simply the economic realm.
Hook'em!!
More like 10-90
This article makes me pretty sure he’s gone. He won’t just grade out as a first round pick, he’ll likely be in the top 10 or 15. It’s a bummer for us but well earned by him.
I kind of want him to go
Who knows what background he came from but this could be his chance. I wouldn’t miss it if I were him.
Come On Now
I love ET as much as the next guy, but I have a hard time seeing an NFL franchise shell out 1st round money to him at this point. He has had a great a year, but I don’t know that his fundamentals measure up very well. That is to say, he can ball hawk against shakier college QBs, but is probably going to have a hard time at his height and weight making players on AP and the like, or hawking against either Manning.
If some team is willing to do so, then good for him…. There are just a few other safeties out there that fit the NFL scheme a bit better more than likely, and I feel like most graders and teams may want to see another year of production out of him to be sure that he has enough skill and intangibles to make up for anything else.
If He Grades In the Top 20
ET goes Pro.
Selfishly I would like one more year but if his family needs help I sure can’t blame him and would wish him well.

The good news about this...
…is that Earl is going to study, train, and practice for Alabama like there’s no tomorrow in order to lock in that first round money. Not that he obviously isn’t already doing tremendous work off the field, in practice, and in games, and not that a National Championship, and both team and personal pride aren’t enough, but this is just another layer of motivation.
I hope he plays the game of his life. He’s earned this national stage, and I hope he takes advantage of it and enjoys it for all it’s worth….hopefully passing Taylor Mays and Eric Berry in the process. We all want him back, selfishly, but I don’t think anyone wold be disappointed if he played lights-out and then left after a Championship.
