Spring Practice Schedule Set
Spring Scrimmage starts at 2:30pm April 5, and there will be three open practices before that, looks like in February.
I've been to the spring game before, and it was pretty interesting. The trouble is finding out whether the offense was good or the defense was bad and vice versa. It's usually best to pick your best units (QB, Receivers, uh... LB's?) and say that anything the other units do well against them is good. If our secondary picks off Colt, for example, I'd go ahead and praise the secondary. Even if it's a bad read or Colt's fault, at least those guys caught something.

downfield blocking
watching an o-lineman make a block on a LB or in the secondary would be nice regardless of who they block.
For anyone thinking of taking their kids to their first Longhorn game
This is a great way to break them in. Plenty of room for them to run around, multiple Bevo’s walking around the stands for photo ops. and the entire game lasts all of about an hour and 15 minutes.
It is great for kids
The spring game was my first Longhorn event of any kind when I was about 8 years old. DKR still had AstroTurf, so they let us run around on the field after the game. We had a blast and it was a very memorable occasion.
Yes
They typically have tables with alot of the players signing autographs. It starts a little while after the game. The last time I went, the line looked to be about an hour long, and folks had started lining up for at near the beggining of the game. Not really an ideal situation for little ones.
Quick questions...
Is it free admission? and is the game at DKR?

The only problem with the Spring game is 50% of the crowd is unhappy with every play. A good gain by the offense and the guy on your right says the defense sucks. A good play by the defense and the guy on your left says the offense sucks.
Shoot that beat the 95% that are unhappy every plan during the regular season.

Or the ones who are too preoccupied with chatting to be loud during, say, the Baylor game.

I was going crazy that game.
I had family in town and was going to wow them with the gameday experience. It was like going to church.

spring game
this will be my families first spring game. We’ve attended several home and away games but lived too damn far away for the spring game. No longer though, Houston to Austin is well worth the drive. Is there any tailgating and the like at the spring game?

Anyone have a list of kids enrolling early?
I’m curious what freshmen we’ll be able to get a look at this game. If memory serves correct, Gilbert is not enrolling early, right?
