Thompson Joins Bradley At Findlay
After removal from the St. Benedict's basketball team on Wednesday, Tristan Thompson made the decision to transfer to Findlay Prep, the Henderson, Nevada prep school that 2009 commit Avery Bradley attends. Thompson should be in uniform next week for Findlay's game February 20 against Duncanville in Dallas, 2009 commit Shawn Williams' high school. Thompson has a connection to Findlay because an AAU teammate plays for the Pilots. Former St. Benedict's teammate Myck Kabongo is expected to transfer to Findlay after the season. In a strange twist of fate, Findlay and St. Benedict's may face each other this season, as both are attending the National High School Invitation Tournament in early April. That could get interesting.

Well that worked out well.
Would LOVE to see a Findlay game. Looks like our Horns are sticking together, what with Kabongo transferring as well. A welcome solution to an unfortunate situation.

I wish I could make it up
to Dallas next Friday for the game, but don’t think I will be able to fit that into my schedule. Unfortunate. I agree that it’s good news that Thompson and Bradley will have a chance to play together before they become Longhorns. Maybe Jordan Hamilton should try to transfer to Findlay and see if the governing body of Nevada high school basketball will clear him.

It's not official
that Kabongo will join his friend Thompson, but that is the expectation.

Does this seem a little strange to anyone?
On some level I understand it but I mean moving all the way across the country for what seems to be solely for the purpose of basketball/being near friends?
Personally when I was in HS I wasn’t about to pick up and move cross country so that I could play a sport with someone I had a loose connection with.

When you were in high school
you weren’t in the long process of becoming a multi-millionaire. Players don’t just happen to get to the NBA. They work on it for all of their childhoods. What seems strange to you is perfectly normal in that world.

I agree to some extent...
But how is moving to Nevada “working on it”?? I mean this Kabongo kid is what, 15 years old right now? There have been players who were stars in the NBA who didn’t even begin playing basketball until they were that old. They already earned a scholarship offers to Texas and I like to think the coaching that they get/what they accomplish during their time at Texas is going to be significantly more important to their futures than anything they do during high school.
Secondly, it seems like what these kids do in AAU is at least as important as what they do for their actual HS teams so it seems a bit weird that they would just pick up and leave their AAU situation as well.
But then again, as you said I wasn’t a big time bball recruit when I was in HS so maybe I’m just wrong.
