Connor Wood Rumors

The Board over at Orangebloods is saying that Connor will/has already commited to Texas today!  Huge get if that is true!

Your FanPost must be at least 75 words long. Right now it's only 22 words long. If you just have a quote, link, video or photo you'd like to share with the community, try creating a FanShot instead.

Now I think this should get the post to 75 words.....if it doesn't then I will give up and wait for someone else to post this here.

This One Hard to Believe - If true - Kid has stones

If this kid comes to Texas to battle one of the greatest Texas High School QBs of all time and the kid brother of a QB that will have his number retired – he is showing some true stones. This kid must be a true winner.

The likely scenario is that Gilbert will play some next year. So, if we redshirt Wood, that will give him some separation from Gilbert’s starting days, probably 2 full years of starting for Wood. Wood is more developed as a QB than Colt jr., but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is guaranteed to beat him out for the starting job once Gilbert leaves. Playing the odds, this isn’t that surprising of a choice.

Reasonable

For CW at Texas, there’s really a lot of possibilities- Lose out to GG and do a RS year, beat out GG, or hope that Davis/whoever goes with some loopy rotating QB system.

Either way, he has a good shot at getting some time… a better chance anyways than he would have at most other top-flight programs, where he’d most likely get jammed behind a few years worth of top recruits….

Baby Colt will have to grow up a lot to compete with either of them in 2010, which is in the realm of possibility but unlikely.

Done

OB now says that he has committed as of 9:00 last night!

So...

I guess Montana is probably out of the equation now.

by Hippie Killer on Feb 18, 2009 4:59 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

honestly...

I live close by and he’s good but definetly not a “special” talent at this point. He could be eventually, but I think Connor is the better prospect right NOW.

Wood is much more highly regarded than Montana, especially for the spread system. Wood should be a 5* QB next season to Montana’s 4*.

by hodad on Feb 18, 2009 5:43 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

really?

I think Wood will be a 4*, but we’ll see!

The games people play (maybe)

“Connor, did you hear Joe Montana’s son is visiting Texas?”

“No. Is he big-time?”

“Well, Notre Dame and some others are interested.”

“Think they’ll offer him a scholarship?”

"Well, he’s Montana’s son . . . "

“Excuse me . . . I need to go real quick and call Coach Brown.”

Don't cry, choctaw kid

O(and 5)U couldn’t win a bowl game with Bradford, and y’all wouldn’t win with Wood, either. I guess “Come to Norman and lose national championships” isn’t much of enticement for blue chip talent.

Scout has him as a verbal

So there may be truth in this rumor. Well, lets hope so. We got grade A qb for years.

making my day

So fun to hear the anti-OU smack start again…it can get awfully dull this time of the year!

its 2009 and OU still sucks…..

by Texas2008 on Feb 19, 2009 1:02 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

No, really.
Do you think Hack Brown can win his SECOND big 12 title in 12 years (soon to be 13)? He has the best players in the country, most money, best resources, etc. What is the problem?

Players go to OU to win titles and do so, because they have more than Texas in both the Big 12 and NCAA. It wouldn’t be fair if our “little” state and program won them all. Would it?

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 11:18 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

really?

I’m pretty sure Bob Stoopid has as many titles as Mack. ou shouldn’t have played in two of the title games they choked in.

by Longhorns84 on Feb 21, 2009 11:37 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

yes really

Stoops has five more big 12 titles. That is the difference.
Yes, we have lost some bowl games. But you guys have lost regular season games that cost shots at greater things – to the likes of A&M twice and Kansas State. Are those chokes? You tell me.

Just wondering your opinion on your beloved Hack and ONE big 12 title in 12 years? I know your opinion on Bobby.

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 11:40 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

no..

several of those losses happened due to key injuries.

The only significance of the Big 12 title games is to get to BCS/ title games…which ou has choked in!

Mack has 2 Big 12 titles. 2005 and 2008

by Longhorns84 on Feb 21, 2009 11:46 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

choctaw is a troll

don’t dignify his drivel with a response.

by Wells on Feb 21, 2009 11:50 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Good try L84. Only one big 12 title. You guys blew a chance at No. 2 under Hack by laying an egg at an obviously overrated tech team. Is that choke? I guess not on this site.

Key injuries? Can that be an excuse? What team doesn’t have key injuries?

I would hate Stoops too if he had more wins against my team than against him.

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 11:49 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

well..

I think that last second loss on the road was better than a 10 point loss on a neutral field.

by Longhorns84 on Feb 21, 2009 11:52 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

QB

I don’t think ou had a QB injury in any of their choke jobs. They just simply shouldn’t of been playing in the games they were in.

by Longhorns84 on Feb 21, 2009 11:54 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

You led for :45 against a team that was beat by 40 by us and whipped by Ole Miss. That says a little too. But if you want, give the Big 12 title to Tech. They were tied too, eh?
You guys did have your chance. Just beat little Tech, right? But that’s not a choke right?

We won the Big 12 with our receiver playing QB one year.

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 11:57 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

45-35

what ou did against any other team doesn’t matter. Are you Bob Stoops? Texas Tech wasn’t even in consideration for anything. It was between Texas and ou, and Texas beat ou by 10 points on a neutral field. The whole country thought Texas should’ve been there instead of ou (except ou fans and bcs). Ole’ Miss beat the team that whipped ou in the MNC.

ou will regret running the score up on teams last year. The back ups that are starting this year could’ve got a lot more playing time.

What happened the year y’all won the Big 12 with that WR at QB? ….oh yeah, another CHOKE!

by Longhorns84 on Feb 21, 2009 12:04 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, Florida whipped us. Right.

How was Tech not even in the consideration? They had the same record and beat you “head to head” as you say. It was a three-way tie. THREE WAY.

Point is Bobby has six big 12 titles to Hack’s one. That’s not bad for our little school and little program. Nobody can disagree you guys should win a lot more.

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 12:45 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Win More?

If I’m not mistaken, which I know I’m not, we are the winningest team in all of college football since 2000. So if you want to bring up victories, bowl, BCS or regular season we have more than you. I will take a 3-3 BCS record over your egg laying coach any day of the week. UT also has one of the longest current streak of top 25 teams, so before you start trying to make these arguments go look up some numbers.

by 10isgod on Feb 22, 2009 10:39 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Tech

was barely in the top 10, and they got destroyed by ou. Tech wasn’t even being considered for a BCS game after the ou game. The debate was between TEXAS and ou.

Mack Brown has 8 straight 10+ win seasons in a row. I think Texas wins quite a bit. ou is like the Big 12’s version of Virginia Tech, they win the conference title but can’t do anything else. If VY wouldn’t have left early, Texas would’ve won two national titles in a row.

by Longhorns84 on Feb 21, 2009 2:02 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

If Tech is not even a team worth considering for BCS and you guys lost to them, then you have to throw that into the equation. Debating is subjective. The Big 12 records were objective. You guys realize you lost to Tech right?

If VY stayed? Now you’re throwing out “ifs”? That’s one Texas QB we had a winning record against.

Hack does have good numbers. He just can’t win Big 12 titles. Not sure why, with all that money, resources, and the country’s best talent.

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 3:38 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

You do realize..

that ou lost to TEXAS on a neutral field by 10 points. right?

by Longhorns84 on Feb 22, 2009 8:30 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

HaHa

This is ridiculous…..

OU has lost 5 BCS games in a row….why dont you go worry about winning a damn bowl game instead of taunting people on a Texas football blog.

Conference Championships are nice, you can brag about them all day. But they really are just a stepping stone for a National Championship these days.

I dont remember who won the ACC Championship 2 years ago, but I remember who won the National Championship 2 years ago, get my point?

by GoComets! on Feb 21, 2009 4:24 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

haha2

Why don’t you worry about winning a Big 12 title so you can worry about winning a bowl game that means something.
Not taunting, just wanting the “other side’s” thoughts on their prestigious coach only winning ONE big 12 title in 12 years. That’s all.
Conference titles are more than nice. They are like, better than not winning conference titles. And say all you want about Bobby, but he has beaten you guys more.
And to answer your question, Virginia Tech.

by choctaw kid on Feb 21, 2009 6:11 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

BCS

I’m pretty sure Texas is 3-0 (1-0 in MNC) in BCS games..I’m pretty sure BCS games are pretty important. What is ou’s record in those important BCS games?

I can assure you that all the years ou has won Big 12 titles and choked in their BCS games that the only thing people remember is ou choking.
