Orakpo tweaks hamstring......
Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo limped off the field a few minutes ago and went under the bleachers with one of the trainers. He’s done for the day, but it’s just a tweaked hamstring. Orakpo said he was worried after he thought he heard it ‘pop’, but the trainer said he was ok. Before his workout session ended early, Orakpo was among the top 10 defensive linemen in the 40-yard dash and the vertical jump. He also posted a top-10 performance in the bench press on Sunday.

It would be a dream if he somehow was available at #15
him playing opposite of Mario Williams would be dynamite.

I hear they are planning on trading Sage Rosenfels to the Vikings and drafting Stephen McGee!
Not really.
I've been fuelin' my dreams eatin' greens and beans.

Maybe they draft Pat White
re-unite him with Steve Slaton

Yeah but they need a backup if Rosenfels is traded

this is true.
I know they have Alex Bran, the former Washington State quarterback, on the practice squad, but every quarterback they have picked up since Kubiak has been there, minus Schaub, have all been busts. They have Owen Daniels as the 3rd stringer, since he played QB at Wisconsin.
Per Richard Justice at the Houston Chronicle..
There is a slight chance that they’ll look for a young quarterback that could potentially run a package offense, such as the Wildcat. I’m all for that idea.
the man, the myth, the legend.
That's why I suggested White
he can run. Not only the wildcat, but we run a lot of bootlegs. Any QB that can run would be effective there.

please no
Please don’t ever say that again. My dogs are pissed at you.
Probably not
PR nightmare aside, our backup has to be able to throw well to fit in our offense.

Mike Vick
He is a terrible passer I’ll give you that, but if we brought him in to run the Wildcat he wouldn’t throw, he would be lined up as a Wideout, and with him on the field would give another down field threat.
I don't think there will ever be anything dynamite about the texans....
kindave an insult to football in the great state of Texas imo….

I'm with Sneezy....
This is a team that gave Ahman Green a huge contract 2 years past his prime…….. The Texans are great at one thing though, they always seem to win a game or two at the end of the season to give their fans some hope for the next season…. and then they open up 2-6.
Your team sucks....your pro team that is...

Used to...
8-8 makes them firmly mediocre. They are better off now than they were before Kubiak got there. Another year or 2 and a couple of holes filled and who knows? If not for Rosenfels’ helicopter fumble against the Colts they would have had their first winning season. Problem is the AFC. An 11-5 team got left out of the playoffs last year. Texans are not an 11-5 team yet.
Exactly, a dream.....
With the exception of Casey Studdard Texans don’t pick longhorns
I'm sort of a big deal, people know me
No they "shouldn't" have
I think they’re fine with taking Okoye with the 10th pick. Nobody was going to draft Griffin in the top 10.

Right now it doesn't look so good
I respectfully disagree w/ ya. He’s made no improvement in his 2nd year and with the money that has been spent on the d-line they should defintely have much better production. NFL people are stubborn about drafting safeties high in the draft but sometimes you gotta break the mold. M. Griffin made the pro-bowl (if that means anything now a days) and Okoye’s name is rarely mention in Texans games. We’ll see, it’s going into year 3 and it’s time to earn your keep.
I'm sort of a big deal, people know me
keep in mind
that okoye is a 20 year old surrounded by some of the best athletes in the world
Ian Johnson gets on one knee.
Sam Bradford gets on both.
wow, spoken like a true texans fan, haha

Not until Jerry Jones is gone...
Will I ever root for the Cowboys again. I was a fan when they were 1-14. Then Jerry takes Jimmy Johnson’s 2-time champs and gives them to BARRY SWITZER because Jimmy was getting the credit. Well, how’s it gone since that team Jimmy assembled left? Funny, I don’t ever remember Jerry Jones being on the sideline the year they were 1-14.
texans
actually i was talking about the nfl in general. i currently do not have a team but i will follow quan and/or rak’s and/or roy miller’s team this year and then when colt is drafted i will be a permanent fan of his team

Can someoene explain the 3-cone drill a little more? Anyone have a drawing or a video?
Am I correct in thinking the Broad Jump is essentially a standing long jump? Man…My jumping ability has always sucked, but I can’t imagine jumping more than about 6 feet standing flat footed, lol.
I also can’t believe any line man can show up weighing 300 lbs and bench 225 only 18 or 19 times. That is just embarassing and to me shows a lack of effort. At only 190, I was only 3 or 4 reps off that. Thanks to work, i’m now 200 and 8 or 9 reps off that :\
NFL.com
Pretty cool explanation from Mike Mayock, can be found here.
If you don’t have time for the video, here is the text.
3 cone drill
The 3 cone drill tests an athlete’s ability to change directions at a high speed. Three cones in an L-shape. He starts from the starting line, goes 5 yards to the first cone and back. Then, he turns, runs around the second cone, runs a weave around the third cone, which is the high point of the L, changes directions, comes back around that second cone and finishes.

Wow
Roy Miller benched pressed 225lbs 36 times in his combine workout! That is 2nd highest for the DT’s
RAK should go top 10...but I think his durability is an issue....
I highly doubt any of the QBs are going top 10…unless stafford just amazes everybody at his pro day and lion puts his nuts in their mouth for his “great arm”
COACH BOOM BABY!!
No way the Lions take him at #1, especially since they have Dallas first rounder
If they want to get a QB, they can do it there at half the price. (of course it helps that Stafford isn’t looking like he deserves to be taken first overall, if he was looking like Matt Ryan then this would be a different story).
I think they will take the best OT available, I can't see them giving
$60 million to a linebacker. I just can’t see it. They will take an OT at #1 (whoever emerges as the #1) to pair with the RT they got last year (Gosder Cherilus). What happened to Drew Stanton? IF the guy can’t get on the field with that offense, the Lions must have absolutely no faith in him…. what a waste of another pick in the Matt Millen era.
you think so?
between jason smith and andre smith… neither screams as a # 1 pick. decent guy on a bad team vs. character issue guy on an above-average sec team.
I dont see any outstanding DL’s on this team and Lions will probably stick with culpepper or orlosky. So that’s why I think Curry is the safest pick.
If Matt Millen were still there, he will take crabtree who measured 2 inches less than advertised and has a stress fracture in heart beat. lol
COACH BOOM BABY!!
from what i've read...
..around the net, I think Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe are the top tackles now, but I agree that they don’t scream #1 pick. Ideally, move a couple spots down, pick up draft picks and pick a tackle. Realistically, I think they take Stafford, let Culpepper “groom” him and take one of the remaining tackles in the 2nd round.

What I think,
is that they will take Stafford or Sanchez, depending on Stafford’s pro day in Georgia. I am thinking that they are looking for a new franchise QB they can start to build the team around. They are set at RB with Smith and WR with Calvin Johnson, they just need to build a supporting cast and tweak the defense.
Won't Sanchez conveivably be there at 20?
While I agree that neither Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe are screaming #1, I just can’t see any team paying a LB $60 million. Ideally, the Lions would trade down, as you said, but those trades just don’t happen anymore unless there is an absolute lock stud QB available. Crabtree was seen as the type of player that an eager team might trade up for, but not at #1 and not with the injury. The Lions can’t afford a #1 bust. They will take the safest possible pick, and to me, that’s an LT….
That 4.7 would rank him sixth among the LBs.
Not a particularly fast group of LBs though.
And his 39.5" leap would beat all the LBs.
So, as far as his position flexibility, he has shown good numbers and that should support his value in the draft.
I’m a Chiefs fan, and I would LOVE to see another Longhorn playing at Arrowhead. He, DJ, and Charles would make a good corps.
Then I just have to hold out for them to pick up McCoy in the middle rounds next year…
