Injuries limit spring participation
As noted over in the FanPosts, safety Ishie Oduegwu decided to give up football due to his myriad injuries. In more concerning news, defensive tackle Jarvis Humphrey will miss the spring because of a recently identified kidney condition. Humphrey's absence severely limits the depth at a position already hurting for players who can contribute.
Here is the list of the rest of the players who will miss spring ball: P Trevor Gerland, knee; TE Blaine Irby, knee; DL Dominique Jones, shoulder; DE Eddie Jones, ankle; WR Jordan Shipley, shoulder; DB Kenny Vaccaro, knee; and deep snapper Alex Zumberge, shoulder.

Not to belabor the obvious point, but it sucks to have three (potential) starters missing for the spring, although of course it’s good to have the youngsters get more PT. I’m pulling for a big season from Collins.
