It's official: Chiles to receiver

40

Even though Mack Brown sat down and talked with former quarterback John Chiles about whether he wanted to make a position change after the Fiesta Bowl, the former five-star recruit decline to make a switch. However, after apparently seeing the writing on the wall with Garrett Gilbert coming in next season, Chiles decided to maximize his opportunity to play in burnt orange, asking Greg Davis this morning if he could move to receiver. After further considering the move on the recommendation of the coaching staff and discussing it with his parents, Chiles decided to make the move, which seems to be permanent, though Tim Griffin's wording is a little vague. It also means that Texas fans will get to see Sherrod Harris in action, who will take over back up duties to Colt McCoy.
