Friday Early Session MMOD and Open Thread

- FYI, I’m 14-2 thus far in my picks…best…first…day…EVER (for me anyway…and I’m former winner of the BON Bracket Challenge, so respect and don’t bust balls if you went 15-1…stupid VCU…Portland State, do it. Do it.

- Watched Texas vs. Scrota last night at a bar in Dallas called The MAT.The game was on multiple TV sets with some subscribing to Cable while others were Dish. Anyway, the TV I was watching (the big one) was two seconds behind the other little TV’s so I half the bar knew what went down and reacted two seconds before the rest of the bar. I swear if I hadn’t been tranqued by about 20 Bud Lights (I started at 2pm) and free Chevis Regal shots, I would have killed somebody.

- Speaking of the game last night…did Tubby miss the memo on how to stop AJ? Wouldn’t identifying the Gopher player with an overactive pituitary and threatening him with death if didn’t stick to AJ often enough to tell you what flavor of chewing gum AJ is be priority #1 if you’re Tubby Smith. Something tells me Special K at Duke won’t miss that one.

- Okay, Let the battle of Obnoxious Orange Begin…after two hours of Tenn, Poke-Lite, and Cuse, we’re all going to have the preternatural urge to pick up trash on the side of the highway.

- So far it’s been a 3 point shooting fest, no governor for either team…no defense either

- Happy to see Bruce Pearl wearing a shirt today but he may have to call on Pat Summit to streak the arena if the Vols keep missing lay-ups

- I hope Travis Ford got a free bowl of soup with his tie and his technical foul

- Speaking of fouls, Eaton already has 3…no suprise there, he chews up fouls like the $1 Menu

- OSU giving new meaning to the Box & One…they seem to always have four guys in the paint at all times on defense

- Vol players have now stolen two in-bounds passes under the OSU hoop at point-blank range…not sure you can even do that on Play Station

- This is playground basketball at best

In 1998, my coach set up a recruiting trip to SFA for me. I packed some sandwiches and took the 4 hour drive to Nach. I head straight to the coaches office were he welcomed me warmly and informed me that he never heard of me. Turns out when my coach said he was sending my tapes out and talking to some colleges, he really meant he was sending out his resume to other schools and couldn’t care less about me. Anyway, the SFA coach was nice enough to give me a tour of the facilites and campus. The guy that took over for my coach told me the SFA coach had called my coach and bitched at him for making me and him look bad.
