Chiles to return kicks?
Bhols' blog says Chiles to return kicks. Does he have the acceleration needed to be a good returner?

Hmm...
I thought that getting out of the way and juking defenders was one of his weaknesses? At least that seemed to be one of the reasons for pulling him from the Q package.

You're right, that definitely is conventional wisdom
about Chiles running the ball, conventional wisdom that I will support until it’s disproven. Hopefully, Chiles can take advantage of the opportunity and do just that, but I think there are probably better options on the team to be back beside Jordan Shipley.

Agree about the better options
Seems like we have a team full of athlethes people have been chomping at the bit to see get a chance to return kicks (Hales, Curtis Brown, Monroe, Fitzhenry just to name a few).
Also, this is surprising considering the staff’s emphasis on fielding the punt cleanly and ball security over getting a big return – low risk/low reward. Given some of the turnovers Chiles had last year this seems to go against that trend.

Shipley Return Stats
Were actually pretty good. He would have been top 20 in the nation in average YPR if he had actually had enough to qualify.

if he can’t do it, they won’t ask him to in game. if he can, all the better. i have a feeling he can cut and take contact more than anyone gives him credit for, but as a qb had to protect himself from contact. no qb should be playing with the physicality colt played with last year.
