ou's BELL
ou has recently received a commit from thier future QB..Mr. Bell. I think this kid is ou's sloppy seconds after getting turned down by the UT commit. I'm sure the kid is talented, but I think ou will be hurting when Bradford leaves after this year (if Bradford leaves after this year).
I wouldn't be suprised if Bradford comes back after next year. He definitly struggles under pressure and I don't think he'll be throwing to wide open WR in the NFL (obviously he knows that). When the defense is tight, he struggles (MNC game). I can't wait to see what Bradford does with a young OL. I'm sure he'll do great against the D2 teams they play this year, The only team in the Big 12 that will test the young ou OL line is Texas. Texas has Houston, Kindle, Acho , and Alexander/Rhandall coming at him. PLUS Okafor will be comin' too on 3rd down situations (not to mention the veteran LB unit).
I think Bradford is WAY overrated, just like the next ou QB will be. It's great that you put 60+ against jv teams...but it's time to play varsity ball.

bradford just won the heisman…. and it’s not cause he’s a crap QB…. sometimes people’s criticisms of other teams are just ridiculous.
bell will be good for OU, and yes, most every team struggles breaking in a new QB. it’s one of, if not the most important position on the field. bell will be good, or bad. time will tell.

the heisman
is the most overrated award in all of sports. I think Jason White won the heisman too (enough said).

Heisman Trophy winner, Davey O’Brien Award winner, Sammy Baugh Trophy winner, Chic Harley Award winner, AP and Sporting News First Team All-American, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches, All-Big 12 first team by the coaches and the AP
he’s kinda good.

Bradford is good...not great
awards in college football are pretty much popularity awards. The awards never go to the BEST player. It might go to the player on the best team, but not the best player. Once in a while the voters get the awards right. Bradford was not the best player in college football last year.
Tebow is almost guaranteed a bunch of awards next year and the season hasn’t even started yet. I’m sure he’ll have a good year, but even if he struggles he’ll still win some awards. Tebow already won half the battle, he has the popularuty vote.

oh come on
Bradfords pretty good, they’res no denying that

Not in the clutch.
In the two games this year where OU was challenged in the 4th quarter, Bradford couldn’t get it done. The guy fizzles at the end of big games, and another loss to Texas (or in a bowl game) and his legacy as the Peyton Manning of OU will be secure. (All talent, potential, but no delivery in big games).

I'll give you that
He’s not very mobile and when his pocket is falling apart he kinda goes “deer in the headlights”

I don’t think his talent is nearly on that plane. There’s a reason Manning was a blue-chip recruit and Bradford was not.
by burntorangehorn on Apr 4, 2009 12:37 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Oh yeah, Manning is a far superior talent...
I meant his legacy will be a guy that had all the promise and hype in college and was still unable to win the “Big Games.”

I agree that the greatest similarity would be the hype that each perennially failed to match when playing his biggest rival.

bradford beat us his freshman year, i’m confused?

Yeah, but he lost this past year, and will lose the next two.

Is he great?
OU had great OL, Gresham is awesome, OU WRs were great. Sam Bradford will show us in 2009 whether he is great or not. He was good last year, but not great like everyone else thinks. This year, his supporting cast is weaker and I would love to see how Bradford does. I wish Gresham left because he will bail out Sammy many time this year.
Bottom line, I don’t think Bradford is great. He’s good, but if he carries the team on his back this year with weaker supporting cast, I will admit he is great. He hasn’t earned that yet from me. :]

Blake Bell...
is no slouch. Best qb in the 2010 class. Not sloppy seconds because him and Wood are in different classes. Drew Allen? Maybe.
Bradford is legit. Disliking someone is fine, but not recognizing talent (especially in the Heisman Trophy Winner) is a little absurd. Relax. Bradford is good, but he isn’t going to carry OU next year. We will get a W, and that is all that matters.

good not great
Bradford isn’t even the best player on ou. Gresham the TE is the best player on ou. Jason White won the heisman too. the team around him makes him look better than he really is.

Hard to say. Bishop Carroll wasn’t a world-beater with Bell at the helm. I do wish the kid would’ve chosen to go to KSU or KU instead, or maybe even CU, but there’s still time.

Saw Bell's clip
He looks good.. OU got a great QB prospect without a doubt.. I hope Wood is better than Bell. It’s kind of like answering the question “do coach Brown and Stoops’ evaluate players better than Rival’s evaluators?” hehe, we’ll see in 3 years I guess.

mack locked up the #1 texas QB.. he didn’t bother looking out of state. this isn’t a question of brown vs. stoops eye for talent.

Wood
Soops wanted Wood, but he picked UT.

He’s losing all five linemen who were the initial starters last season, and four of the five who ended up as the final starting rotation. He’s losing their three initial starting wideouts, returning just Broyles from the main rotation. Gresham and the RBs are back. I know everyone loves Murray, but I maintain that the kid is an overrated candybone, and that the loss of Chris Brown is going to kill them if Jermie Calhoun doesn’t step up during Murray’s weekly medic visits.
I guess we’ll see whether the almost wholesale turnover will affect UT’s DL or OU’s OL more. Both teams should be ready by that point. That DL vs. OL matchup could tip slightly in favor of one or the other, but I think the real difference is that UT’s secondary is going to be a whole lot more experienced and talented than OU’s receivers. It remains mostly to figure out a way to shut down Gresham.

Read what I wrote. Five of the initial five starters are gone. Trent Williams, who took over later when Branndon Braxton broke his leg, remains. So do you consider my statement incorrect?

Trent Williams
how many games did this guy start? a lot

Chris Brown
Loss of Chris Brown?? What happened to him? I thought he was good..
by seattlehorn on Apr 5, 2009 12:59 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
really?
I don’t know about that…I think Brown will be back, I don’t know what BOH was talking about there.

Yeah, I probably flubbed that one. I had thought he was leaving, but it looks like he’s back. IMO he’s actually a bigger concern than Murray.

sorry, i just plugged his name into a draft prediction site and he popped up with combine results. i figure he was going without realy thinking about it.

on a side note...
Shouldn’t OU be capitalized? Or we are trying to be like our neighbors from CS.
by justfr1day on Apr 4, 2009 11:59 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
no
I didn’t capitalize ou on purpose. ou doesn’t deserve capitalization!
by Longhorns84 on Apr 4, 2009 1:18 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Seriously?
I completely disagree with this post. Yeah Oklahoma’s offense might be down, but to say Bradford is just “pretty good” is the rival in you coming out. He is good.
It iwll not be as easy this year; he may be on the ground alot. But the kid is a great (college) quarterback. And pretty smart too, if you ask me, for realizing he needed at least another year before trying the NFL.
And the capitalization thing…. is Aggie-esque. Weak.

OU Commit Bell/OU QB Bradford
We’ll never know how a recruit will turn out until he steps on the field. The same argument against Bell works in favor for Bradford. Bradford wasn’t a household name right out of college, but he’s been very successful at Oklahoma. I do however agree with the argument that Bradford, at least from my perspective, is overrated. Successful, but overrated. OU’s offense is built on quick hits in open space to utilize their speed, i.e. the bubble screen, or quick shots to Gresham because of the mismatch. But against Texas and Florida, he didn’t have that much time, especially once the D-coordinators figured out their offense (Mushcamp, Strong). So now that Bradford may not have the time with his new offensive line, I think you’re going to see his numbers dip a bit against teams with the motivation and the speed rush along the d-line. Only time will tell, but I know Texas is in a much better preseason position than that of OU. Look forward to the ’09 season. Hook ’Em Horns and OU Sucks!!

bradford threw for nearly 400yds against us. muschamp slowed ‘em enough to win (stuffed the run) but i don’t know that he figured them out.
there’s an almost certainty that his #s will drop, he lost almost every starting receiver and olineman… we’ll see what bell can do in time.

2008 ou was very good
the 2009 ou team will not be as good. ou’s chance to win it was last year. ou will win a lot of games this year, but when they play tough teams they will struggle at times (Texas, post season game).

Bradford
the guy is good..not great. He has had great players around him the past two years that made his job easy. He lost the MNC game by throwing two costly picks against a good defense. The Big 12 lacks good defenses, so he looks really good every week. Texas is going to be his toughest test of the season by far. If Texas can stop the run, Texas will win by atleast 10 points again.
by Longhorns84 on Apr 4, 2009 11:52 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
He’s listed as dual threat that’s kinda got me in awe
Plus, playing in Kansas doesn’t help your cause of being very legit! But that will change when he has some big old college guys running for him

Kansas isn’t Texas, but has generally been sold pretty unfairly short in terms of national attention. It’s a lot better brand of football than what they play out here around ACC land, anyway.
by burntorangehorn on Apr 5, 2009 7:19 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Bradford is WAY overrated, just like the next ou QB will be.
This pretty much sums up your unrealistic bias. You assume that every OU qb will be overrated. Not trying to hate too much, just pointing out what I see.
