Actually, a lot of folks feel Royal’s decision to retire (to become full-time AD, though that lasted only 3 years) was because of the pressure of trying to deal with OU in the 1971-76 period

Switzer was a cheating bastard and everyone knows it. He could not have fielded a decent team if it wasn’t for the state of Texas and our talent (they still can’t). Yet, when they have a good team and are winning, all they can do is say Texas Sucks, talk about idiots!! But, we have to forgive them because that little piece of football they have there in Norman is the only thing they have to hang their hats on in their lives. Anyway, everyone knows Switzer spied back then, but it didnt matter because Texas still managed to kick their ass plenty. I believe the overall record in the series is Texas 58 OU 41, that just about says it all.
