Here we go!

"I don't ever miss free throws. I'm like 100-percent from the free throw line. I just don't think about missing and if you think about missing you're going to miss. I just take my time and know I'm going to make it and I do," McClellan said.

Only explanations are:

Augie was pressing his luck
Clark is one of the team’s weaker bunters

Probably the former

I think the point is

That no college player (with the exception of possibly Huston Street) is capable of coming to the pros and playing right away based on their college experience.

I like those quick innings!

Everyone always talks about the "it" factor

This team has it! Like they were saying, Augie has the magical touch.

There is just something purely magical about this team. It makes it really really fun to watch. This really reminds me of the 2002 team and how they just win and come up with what they need.

"I don't ever miss free throws. I'm like 100-percent from the free throw line. I just don't think about missing and if you think about missing you're going to miss. I just take my time and know I'm going to make it and I do," McClellan said.

Glad that I didn't get drunk during the 6th inning....

things is better to come and now we’re 10-6 from 0-6……Thanks coach Augie. What a great pep talk he has given to the troops during the 4th inning!

5 More Outs

Aside from how bad it looked early on – bad enough to get real defeatist – the only bad thing about this game is the announcers fixating on the “Sound of Music”, the MLB draft and bonus money for guys not even playing in this game. These announcers are really terrible, a distraction from a great game.

by RMHorn on Jun 16, 2009 9:54 PM CDT reply actions

Jungman

Great stuff, that guy was so far out in front it was not even funny.

Not only do all these Texas pitchers have stuff they know when to throw what pitches

by 40AS on Jun 16, 2009 9:57 PM CDT reply actions

The most amazing part is that Ruffin pitched 2+ innings

He hasn’t gone less than 6 all year, he has been the most dependable pitcher on the staff, we wouldn’t be anywhere without him. Then to do this when he struggles, it just shows what an amazing team this is.

I never doubted this team all year until the early innings of this game

because this team has never played like they played in the early innings of this game.

I said the team would need a complete turnaround by both us and ASU in order to win, and fortunately for us, we got that.

by bassale47 on Jun 16, 2009 11:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Yea I know

I was speaking about the superstitions that go along with baseball. You guys keep doubting we keep winning. Like the pitcher who wears the same shirt w/o washing it or won’t step on the chalk like going back to the dugout.

by 40AS on Jun 16, 2009 10:19 PM CDT reply actions

Just waking up here in London

What a way to start the day!

May have already been discussed, but has Augie lost confidence in Wood?

Still a Blaine Irby fan

by patienthornsfan on Jun 16, 2009 10:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Nah, he just didn’t need him tonight. Jungmann was hurling fire.

by burntorangehorn on Jun 16, 2009 10:23 PM CDT up reply actions

No Velocity

Austin had no velocity in the last game. He’s consistent with 89-92 usually. But since BC he’s 82-85. Jungman is the new closer.

by Texantt on Jun 16, 2009 10:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Jungmann is not the new closer

He is a starter all the way, and if we hadn’t needed him tonight, he might very well be starting game 3 on Friday.

Augie said in the postgame that he brought Jungmann in after we tied it up because he felt like if we could get the win, then that would give us 2.5 days to get our rotation back in order so we wouldn’t need Jungmann to start game 3. He left Jungmann in because there simply wasn’t a need to take him out. He was pitching great, and we had a decent lead.

Austin Wood was never going to be brought on in the 4th inning. That’s ridiculous.

by bassale47 on Jun 16, 2009 11:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Exactly. Jungmann was rolling with authority, so why change it up? And in the theory of bringing in the closer just because he’s the closer, I think it’s sort of a “one in the hand > two in the bush” concept here.

by burntorangehorn on Jun 17, 2009 10:16 AM CDT up reply actions

So we face the winner of ASU-UNC...

… and only have to win one of two games, and have three of our four best pitchers and our best reliever ready to go?

I’ll take them odds.

Still a Blaine Irby fan

by patienthornsfan on Jun 16, 2009 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions

I shouldn’t even mention it, but I’d think Jungmann would have to be on tap for the 20th, if necessary.

by burntorangehorn on Jun 16, 2009 10:23 PM CDT reply actions

seriously...

how did we win this game?…
