Horns v. Cajuns Game Two Open Thread
They say that it is always darkest just before the dawn. Let's hope they're right. There's nothing to tell you that you don't already know about last night, but c'mon...if this team was going to win a title they were going to do it the hard way. If tonight is the last night of the season, it has been a magical ride that has restored Texas baseball to Omaha. If not, momentum will swing quickly in our direction.
Game starts at 6 PM on ESPN

Longhorn pitching
I was encouraged by the lack of good swings off Ruffin, and Workman looked good also. With a win tonight, the pressure would shift back on LSU, even with their #2 going Wednesday against Cole Green.
We got this! Hook 'em!

Jungmann for Texas, Austin Ross for LSU
Ross is LSU’s #3. Huge drop off from #2 to him. He’s 6-7 with a 5+ ERA, so this is a golden opportunity for the Horns, provided Jungmann is on his game and the bullpen doesn’t do what they did last night.
Interesting.
Their #2 is that guy with an Italian(?) name, and he’s pitched a bunch of innings for them, right? He’s like our Cole Green?
Ranaudo is their #2
Craig Way said today that most people were expecting him to throw tonight but LSU’s coach thought better of it now that they have a win under the belts and don’t really have to win this game. They were going to have to use Ross eventually, and they figure it’s better to do it in a non-elimination game.
Ranaudo has 2 starts in the CWS, hasn’t really thrown a ton of pitches. His first start was cut short because he did not have good stuff that day. His last start was very good, but it was 3 days ago, so they would have been taking a bit of a chance starting him today.
ESPN, wtf....
They just said they will cut into the CWS to watch Manny bat live in the minors…. WTF who cares??
Why am I not surprised?
ESPN has taken advantage of every possible opportunity to disrespect college baseball. This is just another one to add to the list.
I heard it's raining and thundering
On the radar, it looks like there are a few storms moving through, but I don’t think it’s enough to postpone the game. Since it’s raining right now, I feel pretty certain that it will be delayed some.

They said on The Zone it could be 7:30 or 8:00
The guys on ESPN said if there is no more lightning, it will be fairly soon. The NCAA has an automatic 30-minute delay for every lightning strike.
Man oh man...
I do not want to watch this again.

How many sooners does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Three. One to screw it in and 2 to throw shit at each other.

Two muffins are sitting in an oven.
The first muffin says “Man, it sure is hot in here”. The second responds, “Holy crap a talking muffin!”
Tarp is off the field
Probably will start around 7:30.
Hopefully!
Tarp off the field is what I read on Bevo Beat as well.

Let's hope Jungmann is ready tonight......
as compared to last night.
I’m liking our chances with Ranaudo not starting for LSU. I’ll try extra hard to stay positive tonight. :-)
First pitch 7:43 CST.

Wondering if Augie will put more emphasis back on small ball
for tonight. Solo HR’s are fun and all, but I’d like to see a big inning tonight that wears down their pitching.

Dear Augie
Please Leave Keyes and Moldy in the game until the final out.
Thanks,

He did that in the 25 inning game around the 7th and it hasn't changed his approach.
I look for the same thing to happen again tonight.

Doesn't being 2 games away from winning the CWS buy him "some" measure of belief
or is it if it works hes a genius and if he doesn’t hes should have done X?
It's burned us 3 times that I can think of right now!!!!
Moldy and Keyes had 1/3 of our hits and RBIs last night when pulled, he screwed up.

He did what he thought was right and what he has being doing. If we woulda won, would you have said anything?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
I most definitely would.
I’m not upset, you’re just not going to change MY OPINION.

I'm not trying to change your opinion.
It is yours. I am just saying that it is hypocritical to love this team when they win and get so down on them and coach when they don’t. He is the winingest coach in college baseball for a reason.
If you can quote where I was down
I’ll end this and say you are right. Quote me where I said he was wrong, I dare you to find it.

Dude I'm not trying to pick a fight
It is just frustrating for so many people to be so down when coach does the same thing he has been doing all year and the team has been winning. The whining that went on last night was pitiful. You would think this team finished last in the Big12 and hasn’t won anything. I had to quit reading the after game blog because there was so much negativity over the same thing we have seen all year. Just in this case it didn’t result in a win.
I think Moldy
has made the case for me tonight, again.

Main thing is if we win and you still disagree.
That is better in my book than those who show up just to bitch moan and whine about what Augie should have done
We did it against BC
We won in 25, he should have kept Keyes in the game who was responsible for the 2 we did score.
Augie shouldn’t pull our lineup in the CWS.

Thats fine
in my mind, the goal of each inning is to score a run. the goal of each defensive inning is not to give up a run. we accomplished our goal for inning 1.
