Wyoming game
I was wondering if anyone else is heading up for the game in Laramie? I bought three tickets today, said that they were in the Texas Donor section(???) for my daughters first "Hook 'Em" game, as she call's the Longhorns. I was hoping to find some other people that maybe we could hook up with and tailgate with before the game. Driving from Colorado Springs and we will be there sometime Friday night since we dont get off work until 5pm. So, if anyone else is going, hopefully we can get together and hang out before we put the wuppin' to the brown jersey'd Cowboys...
BTW, if anyone knows where the "Texas Donor Section" is, please let me know. I am unable to find the info anywhere...

not a problem
I’m doing everything I can to make the trip myself. The wife doesn’t think it would be a good use of our $$$. What the hell does she know anyway, for god’s sake she married me.

I am trying to convice my wife
that it would be fun to catch the Kansas game at DKR on the 21st of Nov and then on the 22nd watch Dallas/Washington at the new stadium in Arlington (on the way home).

Wyoming Tips
Had a friend who was in Fort Collins, CO for a convention a few weeks ago and he skipped out on one of the afternoon sessions to drive up to Laramie (only about an hour away) and check it out…unfortunately he was not impressed with the town at all and for those of you who are going, he highly recommended booking a hotel room in Fort Collins or Denver and just driving in for the game.
He said Laramie was a lot like going to Manhattan for a K-State. Just a not much else going for it besides the game itself, and unless Wyoming got a lot better over the summer, it shouldn’t be much of a game. Hard to justify the expense and travel unless you’re planning on making a vacation out of it and going on to places like Yellowstone or Jackson Hole…but they’re on the other side of the state.
Also, I think the Rocky Mountain Texas Exes are planning a bus trip up there and you might be able to catch a ride with them in Denver or meet them at their tailgate in Laramie.

Laramie
LaVell Edwards, the now-retired BYU coach, once said that given the choice, he would rather live in Provo and lose than live in Laramie and win. Fortunately for BYU, he lived in Provo and won.

Not the road trip I'd take
Similar to what 54b’s friend reported, I took an afternoon break from a work trip to Cheyenne a couple of months ago to drive the 40 miles to Laramie to check it out. I was actually envisioning a cool little college town, but I wasn’t impressed at all — dusty and small, and if there was a cool strip of bars and restaurants like those in many other college towns, I missed it.
Also, for those attending the game, your first view of the stadium will cause your jaw to drop. It seriously looks no larger than the larger Texas high school stadiums you’ll visit. We’re Texas, and we’re really playing a game at that stadium?!?

Party Bus to Laramie from Denver
The Rocky Mountain Texas Exes are running a Party Bus from downtown Denver to Laramie and back for the game. Here’s a link to show the bus, pretty awesome. The price will be $100/person and that includes free beer (Shiner Bock) on the way to and from the game – just play by the rules.
The final details like the specific departure location and time are still being finalized. When we’ve got that all worked out we’ll have a credit card reservation function added to our website (all financial info maintained by UT Ex-Students Association, not the local chapter). Here’s a link to the chapter website calendar – when the credit card link is live the seats will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. The bus only holds 75 and we already have received interest from about 40. If there’s sufficient demand we’ll reserve another bus, but no guarantees at this point.
Flying directly into Laramie costs about $160-200 more than flying into Denver so it’s really a good deal. And the hotels in Laramie are nearly sold out. Game tickets are NOT included in this, you’re on your own there. The bus will get into Laramie in time to catch about an hour of the official UT pregame tailgate at the Hilton Garden.

Proof, you can have a tailgate anywhere.

I know this is a Wyoming game fanpost,
but I have a couple of questions about the Texas/Kansas game. This will be our first game at DKR and 2nd Texas football game overall. My first football game to attend was 2007 vs OU in Dallas. (a gift from my girlfriend at the time who is now my wife)
Ok, on to the questions:
1. Is there a hotel that is located within walking distance of DKR or one that has really easy access to the stadium?
2. Where would you recommend sitting at the game? There is a possibility that my wife’s co-worker will sell us two of his season tickets (UT Alum), but if he is planning on attending this game I want to have my ducks in a row.

Ticket Question
I called the Mothership in Austin and they have not released tickets—working on student tickets right now. I would really like to get 3 or 4 tickets for they Wyoming game. I saw another post from someone who has already procured tickets—must be a Longhorn Foundation member or something……Does anyone know how I can get tickets so I do not have to wait until next month hoping some tickets are released??
