This Tim Tebow nonsense is getting out of hand
All these media fools should be embarrassed about how they reacted over Tebow getting "snubbed" out of a unanimous preseason coaching vote for All-SEC. Who gives a crap? I'm just about sick and tired of this attention on Tebow and how he can be the greatest QB in college football history and how he walks on water.
Look, I like Tim Tebow a lot, and I think he himself is embarrassed and annoyed by the often ludicrous attention he gets, even getting asked about his sex life. I'm not going to dog on Tebow, as he always seems to conduct himself in a professional manner and is a great leader (he's not the greatest ever and he won't be, but that doesn't mean he isn't great right now). But this is why hardcore college football fans often despise the buffoonery of ESPN, which often begins to sound like People Magazine when they follow these athletes around. So what if Coach Spurrier didn't vote for him and voted for Snead? Not only did Spurrier say it was a mistake (and he didn't even fill out the ballot, which again makes us wonder why "coaches" vote for anything), Snead is arguably the better "pure" QB who will translate better into the NFL. If I'm choosing a college QB, I'm choosing Tebow over Snead right now, but that doesn't mean people can't vote how they wish. Even Nick Saban thought the whole thing was ridiculous.
I hope SEC fans think this is just a bunch of worthless baloney too, because otherwise they'll look as stupid as these "reporters" who apparently have nothing else better to cover. I wrote an email to the ESPN ombudsman that did not give a very pleasant analysis of ESPN's recent college football reporting.
You can bet ESPN is going to bring up this totally uninteresting and stupid story when South Carolina plays Florida to try to create drama and conflict, even though Spurrier didn't even fill out the ballot. They'll talk about how Tim Tebow got slighted, how he'll use it as motivation, and that he nonetheless handled the whole thing with "class," as if laughing and ignoring the infatutation of retard journalists is something "classy" about him rather than him simply being a smart guy who scorns the media's stupidity. I can't imagine that Gator fans even think this represents good journalism.
All this makes me want to play Florida in the National Title game and beat them, just to watch the media cry and scramble to find excuses to cover their hides (like after we defeated USC... boy was that sweet). Pat Forde and ESPN are better than this and should have more expected of them. Good Lord.

Wait a second...
Didn’t Florida lose a game last year? Who did he lose to? Who Quarterbacked that team? Now, I’m not saying that winning a game head to head that makes Jevan better… (I mean what Longhorn fan would ever argue that right?) but it isn’t like it is a ridiculous argument.
I mean seriously! there was more press about Tebow’s little post game tantrum than there was about Ole Miss upsetting them in the swamp.
ha this is none sense
whats happening with florida now is exactly like what happened with usc a few years ago. im tired of everyone constantly talking about tebow, yeah he is good, he is great, but personally i would rather have vince young. i cabt wait for texas to be the giant killer again this year. anyways, being an ole miss fan i though tebow’s post game crying session after we beat them was more funny than anything else. thats the first time i have ever seen anyone cry after a regular season loss… i dont understand why that was so “motivating” it seems to me like tebow is a crybaby who doesnt like to lose.
Hotty Toddy and Hook'em Horns.
Chris Brown thinks this is all an overreaction,
as he states here, pointing out that teams probably can’t vote for their own players on these teams, which means that Urban Meyer was the one who didn’t vote for Tebow, because he couldn’t.

If you are Jim Rome...
your life is that much better if you think about Tebow for 5 min… Just heard it from his mouth.
October 17th can't come fast enough!
Not to bring up old news
I think that I would feel much better thinking about Tebows old girlfriend for 5 mins than to think about Tebow. Seriously, who outside of Great Gainesville thinks of him as the Messiah? After he wins the heisman this year, is he going to cure cancer, and then bring peace to the middle east?

Tebow Nonsense
The Big 12 just released their media preseason all conference list. Sam Bradford was voted first team over Colt. That to me is an injustice since Colt beat ou head to head and set an all time completion record last year and should be even better this year. the Bradford love affair is almost as stupid as Tebow’s.

You know
I know all of this hype is killing us, but we proved things in the field last year over and over again. We dont need votes to know who is better than who. I would much rather fly like we did last year, under the radar, and then tear the mightly ESPN down in Pasadena. Hell, you can even put OU above us in the preseason poll, that would be fine with me.

From an OU fan...
Look, I understand I’m on a Texas site, you’re a Texas homer, and I’m outnumbered 1000 to 1. I get it. But Colt McCoy is better that Sam Bradford? Seriously? In what way?……
- Sam Bradford owns two Big Championship rings.
- Bradford is 1-1 vs. Colt McCoy and vice versa.
- Bradford is 2-0 against ATM. McCoy is 1-2.
- Bradford threw 36 touchdowns his freshman year. He broke the record of 29 set by McCoy.
- In his freshmen year, Bradford had a final overall QB efficiency rating of 176.52. That same year, McCoy had a final rating of 139.16.
- In McCoy’s freshman year, he had a final rating of 161.82.
- Last season, McCoy had 42 overall touchdowns. Bradford had 48.
- Sam Bradford also owns a Heisman trophy.
For me to make a statement such as “Colt McCoy sucks” would be stupid becauase McCoy is a very good QB. But is he better than Bradford? Its hard to say. Should you be surprised that the 2008 Heisman trophy winner was selected for the first team? I sure don’t think so.

- Sam Bradford owns two Big Championship rings.
How big are they?
- Bradford is 1-1 vs. Colt McCoy and vice versa.
Yea, but Colt is 2-1 vs. OU.
Last season, McCoy had 42 overall touchdowns. Bradford had 48.
McCoy also lead the nation in completion percentage at 76.7% while Bradford was at 67.9%. Also, McCoy rushed for 561 yards while Bradford only reached 47 yards. Another plus in McCoy’s case is that he is 3-0 in bowl games, Bradford is ugh yea you know the answer to this one.
Also, the original post was questioning the validity of the Big 12 pre-season All Conference rankings. They were not discussing who has had the better career at their respective school. There is no doubt that Bradford is a good quarterback, but we just feel that we have an equally good one, if not better in some respects, in McCoy.
Also, don’t forget that Bradford had an additional game in which to get those stats up. And Bradford also played a lot more minutes per game than McCoy, as Stoops didn’t put in his version of Chiles to run out the clock.

Ruhtard
Your arguements are entirely based on stats which is weak sauce. If we valued quarterbacks entirely on stats, Texas Tech qb’s would win the heisman every year. I’m not saying Colt is the better quarterback, but in my opinion I would rather have him on my team. So don’t come on here throwing your BS stats around pretending like we give two shits.

Are we really comparing
records against A&M as though that’s a good litmus test. Why don’t we compare records against Iowa State? Or even TCU? Oh wait that loss was before Bradford was QB. Nevermind.
Sam Bradford should not have been voted first-team Big 12. Tim Tebow deserves that honor, and it is a travesty that he was snubbed.

I agree
We need to find out who did not vote for Tebow and they should be forced to watch at least 100 hours of Tim Tebow Highlights from the last 20 years of his life.

Texas never gets any love in the media
It’s been that way for the last 10 years, and will be that way for this whole season. Even when we were on top last season, it was all about which team was going to upset Texas…
The University of Tebow on the other hand...
Tebow went public with his own buttocks and made 7 million, he also sheds his skin once a year.
I also heard he can palm a medicine ball and can use his own thigh as an anvil.
tebow the magnificent
tebow worship is at an all time high. now the news is that he is a virgin and saving
himself for marriage! could there be anyone on earth more perfect?
i can’t wait till we play them in the rose bowl and someone hits him from behind
knocking his teeth loose, fumbling, leading to yet another longhorn touchdown.
i’m sure florida will be a 40 point favorite because they have a holy man playing QB.
the hate texas media will have a conniption (sp) fit!!
ut1ou2 for texas-ou weekend
Give Tebow his due!
The guy has done a lot for his program, his school, and his teammates. Did we not pump VY & Ricky Williams up a bit? Look at what they did for our program. Sure the media craze over Tebow is excessive, but that’s not his fault. The guy shows up, works hard, and makes plays for his team. Isn’t that what we want from our players?
There is some upside to all the press he’s getting. First remember his endorsement for Colt last year. I thought it took alot of class to come out and name his favorite for the Heisman. The SEC is tough again this year and everybody’s Gator hunting, in or out of season. What if they drop one and we run the table?
I can’t say I’m a Tebow fan, in fact I haven’t even watched an entire Florida game, but what I have seen is a hard working fellow citizen getting his due. We can applaud that without worshiping him and without fear of blaspheming our own football gods.
The virginity thing is something he obvioulsy deems sacred. Leave him alone. A humourus view suggests that he hasn’t been in the gene pool and we needn’t fear Tebow 2 for at least a couple of decades!
He needs one of those Jonas Bros. rings.

I welcome it
Keep talking Him up. More hype, please. And then after hyping Him up, let’s hear more hype.
It makes it that much sweeter.
(unless it doesn’t work out right, then it sucks that much worse)
My friend’s Facebook status update yesterday was:
Tebow claims he is a virgin. Florida fans and ESPN claim he was born of one.
You know.....
I hurt my knee playing basketball today. I was thinking of going to the hospital, but it makes more sense to go see The Tebow. Why would I want doctors looking at an injury when I can have The Tebow lay his hands upon my hurt knee?!

personally
I think seeing texas fans claim texas is hated by the media is funnier than anything else.
As for Tebow, is their overkill? Of course there is. This is nothing different than when Wuerffel was QBing Florida, or when Peyton Manning was at Tennessee. Blogs weren’t around then to highlight the media worship as well is all.
And I may be in the severe minority in this opinion, but I’ve never thought Snead was all that special as a QB. He is good at managing the game, but he isn’t really a difference maker. Even if he had gone to another Big 12 school besides texas, I don’t think he’d be starting at any one of them right now.
You and I agree on something for the first time ever!
I think seeing texas fans claim texas is hated by the media is funnier than anything else.
The drought of wins against OU....
Which gave rise to the media frenzy about ‘big game bob’ and left Mack as the ‘CEO’ coach did give texas a negative spin on the national stage when they were matched up against other top 10 programs ( Ohio State, USC, OU, Florida, etc… ).
That being said, I would trade our media coverage for A&M’s any day, but even after the 2005 NC, the success was attributed to a single player, and not the program as a whole.
It’s only recent that the program is starting to get over that losing streak in the eyes of the media.
I think many fellas missed the point of my post
Or they ran off onto tangents I don’t agree with. There’s no reason to hate on Tebow and wish bodily harm on him; in my mind, he is not responsible for any of this hoopla, and like I said above, he is probably as embarrassed and amused by it as everyone else. There’s no reason to think that Texas gets no love either, because we certainly do. I would actually despise it if Texas and Colt got the same idiot attention that Tebow and Florida is getting, so I’m not in any way saying that the attention on them should be transferred to Texas.
My post was to show my annoyance with ESPN and other mainstream media for their superficial football analysis and stupid celebrity-following like Access Hollywood. If you’re going to call yourself the worldwide leader in sports, you better offer some darn good sports coverage and analysis. The recent garbage about Tim Tebow shows the lack thereof. If they were writing a ton of articles on Tebow’s strengths as a player, his fit into the Florida scheme, his transition to the NFL, etc., then I wouldn’t mind one bit. The fact they’re wasting ink on this stupid All-SEC crap and trying to dig into his personal life is garbage, and THAT is what’s ticking me off.

ditto,
I agree completely. I dont understand what the hell difference it makes if it was unanimous or not. He was still the majority leader right? Therefore he is still 1st team all sec correct. I think the virginity question is just insane as well. He’s an upstanding individual so who cares what his personal life consists of.
I even named my son Kolt. no kidding
