Longhorn Baseball Receives Two Verbals

The Horns received verbal committments from the first Golden Triangle players since Beau Hale back in the 90s.

Teamates from the Southeast Texas Sun Devils Kirby Bellow and Jacob Felts gave thier committments a day apart.

Bellow a pitcher from Nederland was 10 - 2 last year with an ERA of1.46.he was the 20-4A MVP.He also hit .394 on the season.

Felts a catcher from Orangefield hit.471 with 6 homeruns and 38 RBIs

Thier summer league coach said that both players could be drafted by MLB but both players wanted to go to Texas.

The earliest they can sign with the Horns is Nov.11.

Does anyone else have any Horn related baseball news.Has Belt or any of our recruits from last year signed with the majors?

No one has signed yet

According to the Statesman, Colton Cain received an offer from the Pirates 2 weeks ago and turned it down. He hasn’t heard from them since but likely will get another offer before the deadline. Everett Williams has not been offered yet by San Diego but says he expects them to offer their “top dollars” closer to the deadline. Belt hasn’t signed with the Giants either but most seem to think he will.

Everyone else from the recruiting class (Walsh, Walla, etc.) is expected to be on campus.

The article also mentioned that Austin Wood has signed a contract with Detroit and that Morgan Mickan has left the team and is planning to transfer to a junior college.

Here is a link, but it may not work. The link I got in an e-mail earlier today is now broken, but I backed my way into this one on the Statesman website:
