Now no TV for Wyoming game either...sigh

We all knew La-Monroe wasn't exactly a ratings machine for ESPN and the like, but I heard on the radio now that Texas @ Wyoming will not be televised either!

Star-divide

Geez.  I mean I can't really blame the TV stations it's probably gonna be ugly for the Cowboys.  That aside our Horns get no air-time till the Tech game rolls around. Lame.  Thoughts?  Can anyone confirm this?  Maybe pay-per-view will be available?

DirecTV vs. Versus issue

The more precise problem is that DirecTV subscribers might not get the game, as DirecTV and Versus are about to have a stand-off over rights fees (much like the NFL Network vs. Time Warner, et al, in recent years).

As of now, their agreement expires September 1, and the thought is that Versus will probably blink before the NHL season begins in October. But that does no good to any DirecTV subscriber looking to view any college football games — including the Battle of Laramie — in September.

And I would assume it wouldn’t migrate to a pay-per-view option for DirecTV subscribers either.

Versus website

Still lists game for, I believe, a 2:30 kickoff. Hadn’t heard about the contract dispute. That’d probably snarl the issue.

This LSU site

is the best tv schedule site i’ve found. They still have it listed on Versus. Sounds like you’ll just have to find someone or somewhere with cable instead of directtv. Still better than PPV.

It is on ESPN Gameplan this year

so it you subscribe to that it should be free.

Is there a link?

Not doubting you. Just surprised, as this is not a game that ever would have been on Gameplan all the years I’ve had it.

While some of the cable networks are kind of amateurish in their coverage of CFB games, Versus actually hasn’t been that bad. As TBS doesn’t appear to be an option anymore, I was glad to see the Wyoming game would be on Versus instead of another PPV I wouldn’t be able to purchase.

PPV: If we played a decent schedule, this would not be an issue

What a rip off. These are the worst games of the season - and they cost the most?

Try being a Colorado Fan

Some of the conference games will be radio only, not to mention non-conference.

Pretty sure this only affects Direct Tv folks

Time Warner’s contract with versus is still in place.

I mean if they are excited about it up North, shouldn’t we? :) Next, the game is going to be on Versus Channel 603. Whether or not it’s on Direct TV is another story. I sure hope Versus settles with Direct TV before Sept. 12th! I just got my HD set up with Direct TV & am looking forward to seeing some high quality Burnt Orange color outside of the two games I am going to see! =)

Comcast Versus

I have comcast and I hated trying to watch games on Vs. The feed frequently stalled or went black and just made it unenjoyable to watch. I’m betting that’s a comcast thing though. Their internet constantly dies on me… i hate them.

Wish the Big 12 would work a deal with FSN or Vs to pick up 2-4 of the non ESPN/ABC/ect games every saturday. They could probably also get ISU, Baylor, and maybe Kstate to schedule a non con game on Thursday so that once or twice a season we could get some Big 12 football on Th instead of just CUSA, MWC, and the like.

My Comcast Versus works fine

The games that are picked up from FSN onto the DC version tend to be flaky though. Sometimes it says the UT should be one and I turn it on and it’s Deleware vs. Monmouth.

I had a case of Monmouth once

Fortunately, they make a pill for it now.

A couple of times

last year FSN played one game on their HD channel and a different game on their non-HD channel.

I believe at least one of these was a Texas game and it confused a number of people, plus I think the UT game was the one on non-HD which ticked me off.

by tdwalsh on Aug 28, 2009 3:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Come to think of it, I think I remember that. Kinda sucked to expect UT, but end up with Florida vs. Western FCS State.

Versus vs. Comcast Sports Net

If you’re talking about confusion in the DC area (where I lived for several seasons before now), I noticed that Comcast Sports Net (251 on Comcast digital) was often confused as to which game would be showing — a Big XII game might be listed, but that oddball east coast1-AA would show instead.

The easy solution for Comcast subscribers is pay the $5 a month for the sports package — you’ll get the three Fox College Sports channels with that package, and those stations will show the early Big XII game of the week, albeit in horrible standard-res, even if not available on CSN in HD.

ugh I can't find it anywhere....

channel (on directv) 785 in SD will have it, but thats the college game plan channel… (this is for the LA Monroe game)

anyone know if someone will have a stream of it?

by Kasper-pA- on Aug 28, 2009 3:00 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

My Versus always shows

pretty decent Big 12 games in good quality. If the schedule says Texas, it’s Texas that’s one…..no Monmouth games. Of course, I use Charter I’m in TN and, the “other” orange and white. Basterds.

BOOOOOOOOM MF!

I’m thankful to have comcast. Even have VS in HD! Gig-ga-ty.

Pay per view on comcast

Is the reason why I don’t have comcast anymore. Last year’s season opener was on pay per view and I had about 8 guys over to watch it and it was on for the first drive and then the signal dropped for the rest of the game. Then it took me about 3 months to get that charge off of my bill. I hate comcast.
