Comments
I made the same comment at work last week.
I say we go for it and storm the field (goal post tearing down excepted – we have to have standards), even if it is against a weaker Tech team. You can talk about how “classy” Texas fans are all day but when it comes down to it, if we’re going to bill this as a revenge game we should act the part. I shed a single tear in Lubbock last year watching thousands of jackass Tech fans run amok on the field before the game was over, now it’s our turn.
P.S. It’s about time to get a WOTR. Hopefully fanposts and comments will be more organized with a forum dedicated to random questions/comments.
Absolutely not
We’re Texas. Maybe if the visiting team was ranked #1 with a 30-game winning streak. But revenge is better demonstrated through showing Tech that they aren’t worthy of our storming the field. Ever.

I say we roll a pirate ship (or some representative form) in front of Ole Smokey
and every time we score Ole Smokey blows the shit out of it.
All in good fun, of course.

When was the last time students stormed the DKRTMS field?
Seems like it’s been a very long time. Gotta hand it to the students for showing such excellent restraint over recent years. (Although, by contrast, even a 20-point win over Texas State in December seems to trigger students storming the court at the Erwin Center.)
Now to date myself a bit, when I was in school at UT during the incredibly heady days of the early Mackovic era, students seemed to charge the field fairly frequently, despite the prevailing mediocrity of the program.
The saddest thing I’ve ever seen at a home game (given that I wasn’t at Rout 66) was watching a fair number of students charge the field after the Syracuse game in 1993. A game which ended in a tie. A game which ended in a tie only because the SU kicker missed several incredibly easy kicks, including, as I recall, a 20-odd yard FG as time ran out.
Times have changed . . .

I seem to remember going on the field
after EVERY games back then
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
Yes,
You used to be go on the field after every game, until they took out the track and switched to grass. As a kid, running around on the field after the game was my favorite part of the gameday experience.

I think the urge of our fans to rush the field has been somewhat diminished
by the extremely large throng of police that begins to ring the field with about 5 minutes to go in every home game. It’s a much bigger show of force than I have ever seen at any other stadium. Just sayin…
I was in school in 1999 when we beat Nebraska. All week before the game everyone on campus was talking about storming the field if we won. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more cops on the field at the end of a game. When we did win, several people attempted to rush the field, most were tackled and arrested. Everyone else left the stadium and jumped in the fountains. A couple people actually ended up getting electrocuted in Littlefield Fountain. That sucked, but lukily they lived. ANYWAY, that was the last time I’ve been in the stadium when it has felt like there was a possibility of people storming the field.

My roommate
Jumped into Littlefield Fountain after we won the national championship. He busted his fingernail because he dove in and bled profusely. Fortunately, he did not get electrocuted though. Sheesh.

Not for me
It really depends on your SAT scores. Combined 800 or below, sure, go ahead. That is why the whole Tech Student body went tortilla happy and occupied the playing surface while the game was still in question.
On the other hand if we beat Al-Qaeda State, then maybe.

Rankings...
So can Texas gain back some points from USC with a big win over Tech in prime time with USC playing earlier in the day against Washington?
Given USC's ability to lose to anyone in the PAC 10 on any given week
And the fact that Washington is a better team than many realize, I suggest you cross your fingers and say a prayer to sweet baby Bevo for Jake Locker.

“Hey, um… you know, sweetie, Bevo did grow up. You don’t always have to call him baby. It’s a bit odd and off puttin’ to pray to a baby.”

Gameday commercial
How awesome is the new gameday commercial with Mack playing the guitar with the gameday crew? I keep checking the Fanshots in the hopes that someone has snagged the video. No luck on YouTube yet either… “We don’t freestyle the Eyes of Texas!”
I found it as well on that site by..
clicking on the “How well do you know gameday” link towards the bottom of the screen and it is the first video up on the next page.
lmao

When researching the OSU game against Houston
I read through an OSU forum, and they were complaining about holding calls. Allow me to paraphrase:
“Are we playing the Sooners? Why are they allowed to hold?”
Haha, we’re not the only ones who noticed that in the Big 12, apparently.

I thought Arkansas or Sooner fans were the worst
But Tech fans are really acting liking asses this week. I suppose they have to milk their once every 10 year win out for everything they can get.
I have decided not to even response to these jerks as I don’t think I can be legally responsible for my actions.
Die raiders die. Kudos to the pirate ship idea!!!
How about we bring out the “horse” from Animal House, painted black of course and fire Old Smokey at it. And as to not offend anyone, NOT A REAL HORSE.
Yes, I am bitter. Yes I hate the raider fans, WHY OH WHY do we even have to let them in our stadium.
"Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable."
Tom Landry
This kind of fun...
Tech hating banter isn’t even allowed over at DTN because Seth and some of the other boys want y’all to like them too much. They just want to be loved.
As for me, I prefer to read over here this week where football fans are allowed to ruthlessly support their team.
Peace
... I'm just sayin'

Time to get a new girlfriend. Honestly dude, what are you gonna do if you marry her and she doesn’t want to go to the games?
storming the field
we will never storm the field again. remember, we’re texas. i remember storming the
field in 1976 the last game of the year and last games of d royal and f broyles.
it was at night and the entire student section was drunk and had to walk back to the frat house someway:)
ut1ou2 for texas-ou weekend
#3 UH in '90
Stormed the field my freshmen year in 1990 when Texas beat #3 UH. We were so drunk that night. It was totally awesome. I think now Texas is too big to ever storm the field again.

Do we have anything to be worried about?
I was at the Wyoming game and we did not look like a No. 2 ranked team. I am just hoping it was the altitude that was affecting the offense.
I have not seen Tech play this year, but just want to know what everyone thinks about this weeks game. I guess I feel that Tech is always so unpredictable and that is what makes them dangerous. By how much are we favored to win?
The attitude affected the offense.
Davis just absolutely mailed in his game plan. It generally happens a few times a year. It’s like playing Russian Roulette during a gunfight.
Meh, I don't know about that.
Came from the Orangebloods messageboard. We’ll see if anyone can get confirmation.
Same OB's thread
Says he has not been cleared and that report supposedly same from someone who asked Scott directly.
Either way I seriously doubt he would get much, if any, playing time against Tech.
Great News if true
Think he’ll bump ahead of Gideon and get the start? I hope so. I know he was ahead of Gideon on the depth chart until the academic ineligibility.
tOSU fans are lynching Tressel
Given that Jordan Hicks is probably sick of hearing all the Tressell bashing going on it might bode well for us.

Horns Fans on Saturday
I hit on this earlier, but feel an urgency to reiterate our duty as fans this weekend. On top of all the speculation on what the chart will look like, what our defense will do against the spread, will Kindle make it happen, where is Colt’s head at, etc… (all good discussion), I’d like to take a moment to focus on what we, as fans, can control. As the conference opener, at home, against Tech, I think our role is crucial. As PB mentioned, the hysteria is well understood, especially by Coach Brown as he helps calm the nerves of Colt McCoy and puts this game into perspective. And as I said before, the amped-up, screaming fans at DKR can make a huge impact on the entire team. You hear stories about the adrenaline rush players feel when stadium shakes. It becomes FUN for them.
So with that, I urge my fellow Horns to step up. If “We Are Texas” does it for you, cool, but let’s embrace the game like we did with Mack’s first slogan that we heard over and over, of “Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late, Wear Orange with Pride”. I have no doubt it will be intense. But for all of those tailgating and getting pumped up around town and at the game, let ’em hear it. Stay classy, but go freaking nuts for your team until the game is over.

Bobby Bragg and Gerry Hamilton Leave BOB
Anyone have any idea as to why they left and where they are headed?
Better Slogan (after reading some Conan)
“We will crush our enemies, see them driven before us… and hear the lamentation of their women!”
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
