It's probably not super-interesting to those focused just on UT football, but Memphis has hired former Big East commish Tranghese to help them get into a BCS conference. While it's doubtful they're going to get into the SEC or Big Ten, the two most likely conferences would seem to be the Big East by a very wide margin, and the Big 12 (very improbable). If the Big East were to expand, who would be likely additional members? I'm thinking Memphis makes sense, but there are other candidates if the conference wanted to get to twelve: Southern Miss East Carolina Troy UCF Memphis, plus any three of those four, would make for a solid alignment, although the Big East would still remain the weakest of the BCS conferences.
