Game Situation Question
I've got a question on a situation that could happen during the game Sat. Let's say that Texas jumps out to a quick 14 point first quarter lead, do you as Coach Brown put Gilbert in with the ones to start getting his playing experience for a drive or two? Or do you keep Colt in to get his stats for his Heisman race and just turn over the game to Gilbert and the second teamers in the second half? Let me know what everything thinks.

I'm sure Colt will play the full 1st half.
No reason to not get Colt some real action. After 8 months of nobody hitting him, it’ll be good for him.
Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.
radio coverage
Not sure if I posted this correctly, so I am putting it out there again – XM radio has LMonroe/Horns game on station 231 at 7 pm.
Wifey’s taking me on this charade called “camping.” You know, pretending technology, AC, and enormous TVs with football games aren’t available to us. I’m going to need to re-activate one of my Sirius radios.

Best case scenario..
We’re up 35-0 at halftime. Colt comes out of the half and leads the offense down the field for another TD to go up 42-0. After that Gilbert comes in with the second team and they continue to run the game planned offense for the remainder of the game. The only time they should stop trying to move the ball is when the clock can be downed out to end the game.
I seriously doubt that this will happen (the second teamers trying to move the ball), but here’s hoping.
I really hope we keep the same game plan with the 2nd teamers.

Colt will not come out until mid-3rd quarter.

can we please....
give gilbert a lil time. the kid doesnt need to play half of 11 games this year. let the kid stand around and adjust for a week or 3.
personally, i wanna redshirt him. just like so many other great qb’s have lately. the kid doesnt even have to shave everyday. he’s dealing with 1000 diff issues right now, if he is who yall say he is he’ll be fine next year even if he redshirts {{I personally knew Colt was THE MAN against Tech in Lubbock his freshman year. ..i contend if he doesnt get hurt at k state, we go undefeated to the BCS title game that year}}}
look up -- get up -- dont ever give up
Don't think they will redshirt him.
With us losing Sherrod we have to get him as much game exp as can be allowed. The long term plan for the Horns appears to be bringing in two or three QB prospects (Wood and McCoy primarily) and then red shirting whichever one of those two is most promising but still having Gilbert and a primary backup. It’s a tad bit scary to me though because if Gilbert get’s hurt this year then we’re in really big trouble next year…but hey if USC has the guts to start a frosh QB then why shouldn’t we if need be?
His freshman year we'd already lost to tOSU.
The talk was of a rematch because we’d lost with a freshman QB so early in the season. If we’d only had that loss we would’ve been more deserving than the UMich talk (losing in their last game) and would have been fighting for #2 against a UF team who had lost to Auburn after UT lost to OSU.
disagree - put Gilbert in for a drive or two in 1st half.
there’s no real upside to keeping Colt in for the entire first half. He sees a better defense in practice, and he’s not exactly the kind of guy that needs the feel of an “in game” situation. Assuming that the game is comfortably in hand — say 21-0 or 28-0 in the late first or early second half — I expect Gilbert to get a series or two before the end of the half and with the first team. If Gilbert is going to burn a redshirt, then it makes sense to make sure this guy can hit the ground running if Colt goes down. The best way to do that is to throw him in early – when it still "matters’ and the adrenaline is still flowing. Likewise for Okafor, who I’m sure we will see early on. Then you take them in at the halftime and you coach them, have them make some adjustments and execute in the 2nd half.
Mack....historically
If Gilbert has yet to see a snap on the first 3 series, we won’t see him until we score over 40 or late in the the third quarter.
