Sam Bradford, Lord of the Rings, and 2010 NFL Draft

"I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you." - potential quote from Sam to the OU team upon his return in October?

I am going to play the greedy sports agent for Sam Bradford for a moment.  The only reason Sam came back was to win a National Title first and/or be the second 2-time Heisman Trophy winner in NCAA history.  Clearly, given the injuries to the team & his time away, neither will be a true option for Sam Bradford.  Not only did he walk away from a potential #1 selection in the 2009 NFL draft (granted which OL, the Lions or the current Sooners, is better is up for debate) and millions of dollars, but he also left himself open to injury & potentially drop in the 2010 NFL draft.  Now that the worst-case scenario has occurred, he faces the prospect of coming back against Miami or Baylor in October with an injured arm.  Even if he comes back 100%, it will be at least one game before he is back in true playing form.  From that game forward, every defensive player from South Beach to Stillwater is going to be gunning for Bradford's arm.  Plus, how will OU respond if they are 2 or 3 losses down going into November?  From a future-career standpoint, would anyone outside of Norman blame Sam if after the Red River shoot-out, he just shuts it down?  Outside of beating UT before he moves on, what would there be left to play for?  Clearly, OSU and UT are now the teams to beat.  But again, the nothing to lose schools are going to try and blitz the hell out of the inexperienced OU line praying they can knock Sam out & then make OU's loss to them the cover for their 2010 media guide.

I'm just sayin'...

PS Props to my wife again for letting our 5th wedding anniversary vacation include my school beating her alma mater!
