Colt McCoy Engaged
Nice catch Colt! Colt McCoy got engaged on the field with his longtime girlfriend. Congrats to Colt and his family. We're all very happy for him, and this puts the icing on the cake for an outstanding career at Texas. The proposal was on the Godzillatron at DKR. When Texas does engagements, they do it Texas-style. Big.
I wonder if Chris Hall will be presiding over the ceremony?
Congrats once again, and Hook em!

Guess I'm getting to be a sap
But this brought a big smile to my face. So glad that something good happened to the kid. Congrats to Colt and Rachel!

When is Jordan getting married
I need to know when the next generation of McCoys and Shipleys will come to UT. (I am fully aware of their brothers.)

Will their kids attend Texas
or will Rachel win and they go to Baylor? :)
It probably depends on where Jordan's kids go
Speaking of which, the wife has been asking whether or not Shipley has a girlfriend. A google search returned the answer that there is no known girlfriend, and that he and Colt have been noticeably mum on the issue. So he might not exactly be zeroing in, or he might be gay, or he might just be secretive. Whatever. I’m sure he and Colt will synchronize as much as possible.

Not that I necessarily think that he is...
…I don’t see why one would doubt it in his case more than any other person. He’s a person. Contrary to popular belief, there’s no evidence that athletes, even ones who go bass fishing, are less likely to be gay than any other person.
Ugh…I didn’t mean for this to be made into a case.

This conversation should end now
Things like this can ruin the original intent of a thread. Just look at BZ’s last thread, and about 5 others from the past week.
Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.
Never knew a question about a Baptist school
could lead to a discussion on sexuality.
That's probably a good idea
My bad. I sometimes forget that the possibility of a different sexual orientation can be a touchy subject in some circles, so I should’ve just not mentioned it in the first place.

Just so I'm clear
Colt did or did not propose to Jordan Shipley, his longtime roomate? (Sorry Kriess, I couldn’t resist).

Also
keep in mind there are a lot of Texas ladies, particularly from small towns, who would hate the attention from deadspin, the big lead et. al.
Colt’s fiance deserves a medal for putting up with it.

She sure does
I’m sure her personality traits that led her to choose her particular profession help a little with enduring the spotlight, though.

not that there’s anything wrong with that… :)

Couldn't agree more
This proves that life goes on and that there are more important things out there outside of Texas Football. Not many, but this is one of them.
Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.
Pretty weak Colt.
Should have done it after the Big 12 championship to ask on a BIG screen.

Part of why I like him so much is he isn't a media hog (Tim Tebow Tears)
He did a great job being the media front and leader for the Horns, but a proposal happening more privately in his favorite place is probably more his style.
I'm sure he wanted to pull an Ian Johnson
and propose after we won the National Championship. I am happy for him— God knows he needs something positive right now.
Bravo Colt
and well done to whomever helped him pull the thing off in proper Texas quarterback style.

grats to Colt, may he live long and prosper while throwing TD bombs in the NFL for years to come

Ah Yeah....
Goot ’ol Baylar gurls
"I know what it would have been like had I played that game. To know that is tough. But at the same time, I am a man of faith. I stand on the rock. I'll never question God for why things happen the way they do. ... There's bigger and better football days to come. I know, I'll be on a championship stage one day." Colt McCoy
Good Lord....
I've been fuelin' my dreams eatin' greens and beans.

They are going to have redesign DKR, to make room for all the babies
My hope is that he pulls a Herbstreit and makes his own little football team. That way, Shipley can to, and in 20 years or so, instead of roommates, the McCoys and Shipleys have an entire dorm.

We already have the brother of Colt, Case McCoy coming in this Fall
Jaxon Shipley is one of the top WRs in the state of Texas for 2011, and its a sure bet, he’s coming to Texas. Griffin Gilbert is class of 2012 and right now, and as a sophmore, he’s 6’5, 225 lbs as a WR. He’s likely to still add an inch of height and could be around 6’6, 250 lbs upon graduation. His true love is basketball, but we may see him on the field as a true TE one day, which would be great.

It's like there's some sort of football-supporting eugenics program

Well, UT's not the best research university
but as a biology student, I would be interested in seeing the progression of said program. Personally, I’m waiting to see how Huston Street’s kid would be in baseball, since he’ll be 3rd generation. Or how superhumanly fast Aaron Ross and Sanya Richards’ kids will be.
Every time I feel down and depressed, I think of seven simple words by a true wise man, Matt Leinart: "I still think we're the better team" and I usually end up hurting myself by laughing so hard.
