Horns #1 in Baseball America Preseason Poll
The Horns are #1 in a second college baseball poll. On the plus side, 3 of the top 4 in last year's preseason poll made the CWS (LSU, UNC, Texas). Of course preseason #1 last year was Texas A&M...The most interesting part of the lineup is the potential move of Chance Ruffin to closer. Baseball's right around the corner.

Also, can anyone explain our relatively low batting AVG?
we’ve only got 2 starters with .300+ AVG, while Virginia has 7 and Rice has 5.

Part of it is Augieball
And somewhat related to Augieball is the fact that we have really good pitching which tends to increase the tendency towards Augieball. We did far less bunting in 2008 when our pitching was far worse, of course 2008 was a disaster. Some of it is because Brandon Belt left with his high BA. But a much bigger part is that we play in a pitcher’s park. The ball just flies out of some of these ballparks, not so with UFCUDFF.
That's one thing I wish were more standard in college baseball
Or heck, even in the MLB. Why can’t baseball gets its crap together and standardize the dimensions of the playing field?

The move makes sense. His father Bruce was able to extend his major league career with a move to the bullpen.
