longhorn543 posted a fanshot by SI suggesting he’s ours!
After it was posted in another fanshot. Sheesh.
Congrats on becoming a Longhorn, Jackson Jeffcoat! And congrats on getting one of the nation’s best recruits, Longhorns!

We got it...
you posted it 1st. I don’t care. Even if I was first, I wouldn’t care. UT just put the cherry on top of a great recruiting class and you’re worried that you’re not getting the credit for the scoop. I don’t get it.

Yes sir!
Any idea what he said?

great news!
nice to have another class act on the squad.
Props to Jeffcoat family
Dad is at UH, most of family is at OU, but they still let Jackson make his own choice and stood by him no matter where he wanted to go. Class family and classy kid.
Thanks EDSP
Gonna love these 2 classy kids!!!
Great sutff!
He looked pretty nervous. Glad he is going to be a horn!!

OUT-FREAKIN-STANDING
Great news. Welcome to the family, Jackson.
Hook ’em
A 2009 article from USA Today about the Jeffcoats. I’m even more impressed with Jim Jeffcoat as a person than his talent. Of course, his wife had a lot to do with the great kids, too.

He's such a great get
This kid handled the recruiting process exactly the way a kid who’s unsure of where to go should. I was prepared to accept it and praise the way he handled it even if he had chosen Oklahoma, but I’m thrilled he chose the good guys.

Awesome
And his leadership and strong ethics make him even more valuable than just his talent. Excellent news. We really locked down our state, and even got the #1 guy from OU. The late commits have been amazing. D. White, M. Davis, Cobbs and now Jeffcoat. I ditto GOHORNs. OUT-Freaking-standing.
Loving this
The Horns will be the team nobody wants to step on the field against! Solid Class, hoping for Hicks as well but, if not this is still an amazing recruiting class.

I noticed on RIvals that this will be our first “5 Start” commit of the year. Is that correct? Will they publish a final rankings? It seems odd that none of the great talent we’ve gotten already is considered 5 Star. Of course it doesn’t really matter in the end, but it just seems unusual.
According to Rivals and ESPN yes
Scout.com has him as our fifth five star.

I think those rankings are final
They were updated two weeks ago . . . Reggie Wilson and Mike Davis just missed 5-star status; only two Texas HS players with 5s are Jeffcoat and the player otherwise known as the running back from Temple.
I’m not going to sweat out 5-star players. UT recruited six of those in the same class one time and three never contributed. The three who did were Justin Blaylock, Rod Wright and a QB named Vince.
RB from Temple
Who would have thought at the beginning of the process he’d be going to Oregon? Dude should write a book on How To Lose Friends and Offers. Contrast with Jeffcoat’s handling of the process.

The current rankings are the final ones
All games, plus the post-season “bowl” games (Under Armour and Army All-American Games) have been played, so they published the final results right after the game in San Antonio. And yep, JJ is UT’s first five-star recruit according to Rivals.
Not that that’s a big deal, because guys like Davis, White, and Wilson have probably earned their fifth stars, but didn’t get them for some reason.

Great choice Mr. Jeffcoat
when is the Hicks announcement? 11-something?
This team is going to be absolutely sick in 3-4 years
Great News
Finally. All that worrying for nothing. Come on Hicks. Now he is just a cherry. This is one of Mack’s best classes.
"big-time players make big-time plays in big games."
YEAH!!!
This is a kick a** class on the D line, and overall for that matter!!!
Vince Young >Tim Tebow.
Does anyone know his nickname, er, 'moniker'?
Something to be said for Coaching stability. Mack is a genious for locking up BOOM.
Congrats to the Coaching staff for a great recruiting win although I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone would look elsewhere….as in 102K seat stadium, better than NFL facilities, GRIT’s, on and on……

Jackson playing Basketball?
ESPN articule
He might also follow in the footsteps of former Texas power forward P.J. Tucker. Jeffcoat said he hopes to join the Longhorns basketball team after football season. He said Texas coach Rick Barnes has given him the green light to pursue becoming a two-sport athlete. “Basketball’s my first love,” Jeffcoat said. “It’s so fun to play and it helps you so much with football. I’ll just have to see how my body feels after football.”

no, but...
in some of these Big12 scrums, he might bring a whole new level of meaning to the phrase: “He’s got a foul to give”…
Hah!

makes me cringe a little...
he cant fluctuate between football shape and basketball shape and expect to reach his full football potential…i’ve heard he has decent game — nothing spectacular — but I’m sure he’s used to being swing/post player…that wouldnt be the case in the Big XII
My hope is that Mack called Rick and said hey please appease this kid, let’s get him on campus, and then show him that football is his sport

Awesome!
Welcome JJ! Nobody will be able to run, and they might not have time to throw either! Texas D will rule! Gimmee Jordan Hicks too, I’m feeling greedy!
