Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

NFL Draft

I would like to see Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley drafted by the same team. Which team would Colt be the best fit? With Colt's stellar accuracy, he has the makings of becoming a star in the NFL. Does he remind anyone of another accurate QB currently in the NFL? Payton Manning? Maybe take over Payton Manning in a few years? I'm not a Colts fan but might be a good fit for McCoy. What do you think?

Peyton is not going anywhere soon...

Manning has at least another five years

So many records are going to be so far out of reach…

Vikings or Panthers

Strong running games where Colt doesn’t have to win them the game and with all the weapons the Vikings have they could use a good Slot receiver ie Shipley

I'd say the Vikes...

…but I don’t think it’d be good for him to be the best QB on his team as a rookie.

I think comparing Colt to Peyton is ridiculous

Not to speak to Colt’s intelligence but Peyton is nothing short of a genius when it comes to football. He is just a tactician on the field an it is my belief that when he does retire he will be revered as the best NFL QB ever. I think the QB I can compare Colt to is Joe Montana. Joe did not have an overly strong arm but he was accurate and fit well in to a scheme. I think that is where Colt will find his success. If he is put in a true West Coast offense that emphasizes the short pass to set up the running game and vice versa.

the comparison

was toward accuracy only, accuracy is key to be successful in the NFL. The top NFL QB’s all have one thing in common, they are accurate throwing the ball.

Yeah but Peyton also has a "larser-rocket arm" to help make just about any throw accurately!

laser arms

don’t make you more accurate. If anything they make you less accurate. In Baseball, the harder you throw, the less accurate you tend to be, and the targed is standing still.

Peyton has both which is why he's widely considered the best and will likely go down as the best ever.

Peighton Manning does not have a laser arm

Not by any means. In fact, his arm strength is his only “weakness”. His brother Eli, certainly has the gun of the family, whereas Peighton has the brains when it comes to football.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

Manning is not known for his laser arm . . .

He’s known for his wits, accuracy, vision, and field general mantra. He’s in the NFL so he does have the needed arm strength, but he’s not known for that. Colt has plenty / will have plenty of arm strength for an NFL gig. One thing that, IMO, sets him apart from Bradford & Tebow is his quick release on quick routes and his quick throwing motion. His work will need to come in his vision (lots of INTs and close INTs) and catching up to the speed of the NFL game. I see him as a cross between Steve Young and Drew Brees. He’s definitely got the physical tools, talent, and warrior mentality. He’s just gonna have to put it together. He’d be a great fit for the Vikings but, then again, who wouldn’t be? They’re loaded on offense.

Manning

The only reason his arm strength isn’t discussed more is because his other passing attributes are all at the top of the league, while his arm strength is probably just top five.

As for the Vikes, I disagree that they’re loaded on offense. I don’t think the receivers are actually that good. But either way, Colt needs some time to learn, IMO.

Shipley

I think Shipley can fit in to any number of schemes because of his versatility. I think his true value will be as a slot receiver who will be reliable on 3rd down. Also he adds some value in the return game. I don’t think Jordan will be a world beater but I do think he will have a good career.

Cowherd just threw out his NFL draft predictions

and one of his 2 thoughts was that Jordan Shipley would end up having a career very similar to (Carolina) Steve Smith. Without the punching, of course.

I hope Colt can sit for a few years before becoming a starter

I didn’t think Flacco could do what he did last year and sure had no faith in Sanchez so who’s to say Colt can’t do the same.

I’m hearing that Dallas is interested in Thomas but doesn’t expect him to be around by 27.They also have interest in Shipley for his return skills.
