2010 Starters
For the sake of mental health, I'll take a shot at it:
Offense:
flanker (Z): Kirkendoll
Split End (X): Malcolm Williams
Sub B: Chiles/Goodwin
TE (Y): Irby
Tailback: Newton/Whitaker
QB: Garrett
RT: Hix
RG: Huey
C: Snow
LG: Allen
LT: Walters
Defense:
Def Ends: Sam Acho & Eddie Jones
Def Tackles: Howell & Randall
Strong LB: Emmanuel Acho
Mid LB: Jared Norton
Weak LB: Robinson
Left CB: Aaron Williams
Right CB: Curtis Brown
Safety: Christian Scott
Safety: Gideon
Nickel: Chykie Brown/Aaron Williams (Chykie could slide to CB)
Of course this is with the assumption that Earl is gone. Will be nice to see Jared Norton back.
Thoughts?
Note: Def. tackles & Nickel added

DT?
Inside, maybe Randall and Howell? Can see why you left it off. Probably our thinnest position next year. Maybe a couple of Freshmen come in and contribute…….
Maybe Okafor beats 1 of those 2 for the starting position at DE. If he is our backup as a Soph! Then that is awesome depth and talent on the ends. And with Wilson coming in next year as a Fresh……

I'm already ready for 2010 to start
Despite my feelings towards college football right now, my distaste with how this season ended is already getting me thinking about the fall.
Who is the nickel back? I assume it will be Chykie, but I’m not certain about the draft prospects of any of our secondary besides Thomas, so one of the corners could defect for all I know (although I doubt it; unless I hear otherwise I’m assuming all the corners come back). If we still do have both the Browns and AW, we will probably use those three on the field rather than two of them and Norton except for obvious running downs.
I know that GG has been getting groomed all fall, and that any rational Longhorn fan should have an even higher opinion of him after the game yesterday, but I am curious to see if Sherrod can make a game of this thing in the spring. If GG has more problems than expected with catching up to the college game, and if the coaches could find a way to utilize Sherrod’s athleticism and experience, then we may see some competition. That said, right now it is pretty clear GG is a lock, and rightfully so.
The perceived weakness of the team are going to be d-line and QB, but Muschamp has done a fantastic job of getting the younger guys minutes. It is hard right now to put a value on GG’s unexpected action yesterday, but I think it could range anywhere from getting a great head start in the spring to giving the kid a big chip on his shoulder that he will only remove with championships.
The receivers are also somewhat of a question entering next year, but I think that Shipley leaving is going to cause improvement across the board. In my opinion the whole McCoy-to-Shipley connection cast a pretty big shadow on the younger guys. They never could really find a rhythm with Colt because we had so few pass-heavy drives this year, and the majority of passes went to Shipley. The lack of a #1 receiver (stop dropping balls Malcolm), and having a new quarterback to woo, should make everybody step up their game.
If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!
Ditto !!!
Recievers seem to make the biggest leaps year to year and I think our QB will be just fine. I believn we would should have one of if not the best defensive backfields in the nation. I think Muschamp can mold and shape them into a top 10 D even with the losses. My real concern is getting our O line to start moving people off the ball. Last night they played the best I"ve seen some years (pass blocking). The run blocking was decent though, when the D knows you are not gonna throw the ball what can you do, we returned the favaor to Bamas O as well.
Getting that big time RB will be nice to!
The WR Look Makes Me Cringe
Things should massively improve once GG has some time to work on timing/chemistry with the wideouts, who by no accounts are lacking in talent. Still, Malcolm and James were veterans THIS year, had Shipley to keep defenders off them, and Colt throwing the ball. Even with those benefits they were inconsistent and made extremely costly mistakes, particularly in the last two games. While I expect improvement, it’s hard to imagine either becoming world-beaters with Shipley gone and Gilbert still learning.
With Cosby and Shipley both gone there is no apparent “hands” guy on the team to snatch those clutch 3rd and 5’s across the middle. Perhaps Irby can be that guy but after two seasons off the field there’s no way to know. Similarly, it may be asking a lot of Jared Norton to come off rehab and plug right into MLB.
We will be very deep at LB though
Tariq Allen & Tevin Jackson will play next year……….and #1 LB recruit Jordan Hicks is still a possibility.
Irby could develop into the go to guy for Garrett………such a wild card with that injury though.
And while we are at it, here is next year's schedule:
9/4 at Rice
9/11 WYOMING
9/18 at Texas Tech
9/25 UCLA
10/2 vs. Oklahoma (Dallas)
10/16 at Nebraska
10/23 IOWA STATE
10/30 BAYLOR
11/6 at Kansas State
11/13 OKLAHOMA STATE
11/20 FLORIDA ATLANTIC
TBA TEXAS A&M
Nebraska game will be interesting
Possible pre-season top 10 team. That crowd will be pumped.
And when is the last time we had our bye week right after OU?
Will be nice to get a mid-season break.
Only 4 true road games…..but 3 will be extremely hostile environments.
Who the hell is our kicker?
Can Justin Tucker kick a FG? Ryan Bailey and Hunter Lawrence will be gone.
Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.
Irby
I heard his injury is career threatening. Not likely he’ll contribute :(

D Tackles
I think that Derek Johnson will have a better possibility of starting before Calvin Howell. He’s really shaped up during his redshirt year.
