DJ scored in the first quarter!
As i revisited the video of the National Championship, I saw something I missed live. DJ Monroe scored on the speed sweep! I know there is not a conclusive angle but it appears to me that he rolled over the defender while never making contact with the ground until he is in the endzone. At this early juncture in the game, we didn't know how incompetent the Big East crew was going to be all evening. Cody was not in the game and that's probably why we went hurry up offense and ran the QB sneak for the touchdown. Now, I'm unsure of it, but since there were offsetting penalties, was there technically a play or was there anything the coaching staff could have done to ask for a review? I know they tell us "Every play is reviewed upstairs" but ESPN/ABC did a poor job with replays all evening. Sorry I dont have a link that doesnt include attaching the whole game. I can tell you they play is run with 10:54 on the gameclock in the first quarter.

Big East Crew
Wasn’t used to the speed of the game from a Big 12 school and SEC school coming from the Big East. They were out of position the whole game.
I think the same thing
But the camera angles were so bad it’s hard to be sure. That’s kind of a dumb rule anyways — if you fall on top of a player who’s down, you should be down too, IMHO.
Not that it would of made a difference but why couldn't they at least pick an officiating crew from the Big 10 and Pac 10
Ryan2907 had a good point there they aren’t use to the speed and sorry to say this but the Big East doesn’t really have a perennial powerehouse! It may be opinion but at least in the Big 10 there normal three big teams are Penn St, Ohio State and Michigan well not of lately and Iowa has been creeping in the mix. Pac 10 has USC and Oregon
i saw the same thing
and bitched that for the biggest game of the season, abc didn’t have a definitive look—or nobody thought to even check a replay.
thanks for the confirmation jrod.
During same sequence of plays looks like Greg Smith
gets pushed down from behind in the endzone on the third down play when GG scrambles out to his right.
ive been reading alot of 'bama history lately
and as bear byrant said to joe namuth…
if you didnt punch it in so hard that there is no doubt in anyones mind you scored you dont deserve the score
the game is over. wheather it should have been different or whatever its over
Think you meant "Nameth" and
Texas squandered its chance at a replay by going with the hurry up. I contend that even if we go up by even 10 points early, Saban would have panicked and went away from the run and most certainly would have played into Muschamp’s hands. I dont care what anyone says, We lost the game way more than Bama earned the victory. If we play Bama ten times, we win nine….Thursday was Bama’s one time…
