An Aggie Apology
On behalf of all Aggies with class, I want to apologize for the insulting/chiding of Colt McCoy's injury during the BCS National Championship that took place by certain classless fans on "I Am The 12th Man." Most Aggies (that I know) do not support this kind of immature behaivor nor we do we find pleasure in seeing Colt McCoy, nor anybody for that matter, suffer any kind of injury. We enjoy the game, the rivalry, and the joy of rooting for our team, but reveling in the opposing team's loss is about as rank as it gets.
Colt McCoy's injury was a tragedy and took away from the excitement of getting to watch the two best teams in the nation square off. He is receiving the prayers of my household as I am sure he is of Aggie households around the nation.
Please accept our apology to Colt, his family, the Longhorn team, and Texas fans everywhere.

Very nice of you to say.
Don’t feel too bad, though. Personally, the Aggie site was the least of my problems that day.
Too little too late.
Karma will come back big time to Aggieland for the Cart McCoy jokes. There’s no making up for it.
3/19/2009 - Dogus Balbay Made a Three-Pointer. Never Forget.
What if that Karma just comes in the form of GG going 3-0 aginst the Ags?
We don’t necessarily have to hope for injuries.
And I do feel a little worse for the Sooners after watching Colt go down during the game, but there are a couple major distinctions:
1. Colt was not offered millions of dollars to leave UT prior to said injury
2. Bradford was not injured during Florida/OU NC game in the first quarter. His replacement got a chance to wind up during the season before playing UT.
3. When Bradford was put out during the RRR, everyone agreed he was returning too early and he got reinjured facing a top 10 QB pressure defense. THAT’s on Stoopsie’s head. I didn’t think Bradford would make it to the second quarter of that game.
4. I don’t recall anyone making fun of Bradford for being “soft” here on the boards, and the mods were pretty strict about any talk that headed that direction post-injury
The Ags treatment of Colt’s injuries and their glorification of their cheap shots on him are terrible, and I hope the Karma they recieve is that they become a graveyard for coaches and never return to national prominance in my lifetime.
Karma?
Karma is a contradistinction of faith. Karma judges all things. Glad I do not believe in it. I have been to India and I have seen first hand what a belief system such as this creates in a society and culture. It causes people to look up and down at each other. If your brother is in the dirt. He deserves to be in the dirt. I guarantee you that Colt does not look at this a judgement for anything he has done.
I don't agree
I think it only goes to the idiots who made the Cart McCoy jokes in the first place. Oh, and anyone who wants anything good to ever happen to Kellen Heard.

Classy Move. Hope for humanity.
Apologies and forgiveness are never “too little, too late”. Rivalries are fun and poking jabs at each other for sport is likewise entertaining. But just like teasing your little brother, there is a line that you shouldn’t cross. It is not consistent with the spirit of humanity.
Grace. Integrity. Character. Love. Exhibit any one of these with each person you meet and the world will be a better place. (yeah, sappy I know. But I suffer with having a Sooner as a brother, so I have plenty of practice at it.)
Hook’em!
A Sooner brother? Yikes.
Saturday morning in October must get pretty testy..

Quoting beergut directly
Maybe if Colt was a little bit physically tougher, the game might have been different, but maybe not. One-Hit McCoy, Sissyboy McCoy, all are apt descriptions of McCoy after Thursday night.
I haven’t really minded him up until now, but he has now revealed himself to be the pathetic worthless piece of shit that he really is.

I generally agree . . .
. . . and perhaps I’ll regret the comment in the morning, but sometimes a spade has to be called a spade.
"Texas played without its best player for nearly 56 minutes. There's an asterisk." -- Ivan Maisel, ESPN.com
I did everything in my power
to refrain from profanity in my comment. Damn it pissed me off.
Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.
You're a stronger man than I
Serious question about SBNation.com: Can a “franchise” to operate a blog for a school be revoked?
It’s not merely this particular asinine comment which prompts me to ask. But with such a vibrant network of well-written blogs throughout the SBNation universe, it’s rather sad that one of the largest universities in the nation has such a pathetic site on SBNation. Me may not be OU fans, but at least C&C is well-run with a good droup of writers, even if we don’t see eye-to-eye on all issues.
SBNation would be a much better place if a replacement Aggie, or group of Aggies, could be coaxed into replacing that asshat’s sad little one-man show.
"Texas played without its best player for nearly 56 minutes. There's an asterisk." -- Ivan Maisel, ESPN.com
It's not just the Aggies
There are a few TOTALLY classless SB moderators out there, unrelated to Texas sports.
I know that rivalries get heated, but at a certain point moderators can make a school look really bad for keeping them onboard (comment doesn’t apply to Beergut, IMO).
Just for fun's sake . . .
. . . can you name a few names? I’m curious to take a peek.
"Texas played without its best player for nearly 56 minutes. There's an asterisk." -- Ivan Maisel, ESPN.com
I'm actually an alumnus of the school in question
And at the risk of copping out, I don’t feel comfortable naming names (don’t need to start a flame war).
But some moderators shrilly and obnoxiously eviscerate their rival teams and coaches, they ban any dissenting fans from opposing teams, even the reasonable ones, and shout-down their own fans who even slightly disagree with the “consensus”.
Sorry to be vague, HH. I’m doing it out of personal embarrassment and site-preservation.
It makes me feel very lucky to have our moderators. I don’t always agree with them, but they always hear me out, and they remain cool-headed.
Obnoxiosly eviscerating opposing teams/fans/coaches/players is one thing...
..deriving pleasure from the physical pain of another human being is completely another. Journalists are fired for much less.

And it would be one thing . . .
. . . if someone fired off a “Cart McCoy” comment during the heat of the moment during the game. Classless, sure, but we all do dumb things when caught in the heat of the moment. I know I was yelling things at Saban in the last 90 seconds of the game that I now regret.
But these latest comments of beergut’s are very clearly not in the heat of the moment. These are his thoughts after having time to reflect.
They reveal a much smaller and sadder man than I ever would have guessed.

No problemo

PS. I like your signature.
I think it was that SportsNation Show that had a national poll where like 53% of the country wasn’t “satisfied” with the result of the title game. Glad to see ESPN writers aren’t all on-board either.
I've been very pleased with the general reaction across the country
Most prominent writers seem to have acknowledged the very prominent elephant in the room (no pun intended).

Yes i like it as well.
While most are dreaming of success, winners wake up and work hard to achieve it.
Someone should petition for this -- the Aggies are a season away from being a very good team.
They should be better represented on the internet.

I thought the aggies might be good next year, then I watched them get destroyed by Georgia. The aggies suck on the road. JJ looked bad too, and their defense is even worse.

Beergut..quality name for a quality person...
Beergut…get a life. Can PB ban him from BON….or is he already?
From a Red Raider
I can’t believe that guy is on SBNation. IAT12M has become an extension of TexAgs. I saw that post, and was disgusted. Not the first time that’s happened with the drivel that comes from his keyboard, but this was exceptionally disgraceful. I am grateful for Seth at DTN, and your editors here on BON, along with the rest of the representatives from the Big 12. It is sad to see such behavior. I am used to posts that encourage discussion and debate. His posts are clearly nothing more than provocations of anger, backlash, and cries for attention. If it weren’t for other teams responding to his trolling-influenced stories, there would be no comments.
Good luck, and I look forward to the game in September.
much appreciated
rivalries are great but when it comes down to it, football is just a game, and injuries and the welfare of players is above any rivalry. thanks for the apology. every fanbase has that kind of “fan”, and i apologize for any Texas fan that does the same
Appreciate the forward, unsolicited apology
Those are the best kind, and it’s appreciated. There’s room for civility in rivalries. We aren’t SEC drones.
I know several Aggies like you, Aggie4Christ,
and the apology is nice, but I know even more like Beergut and miketag. These two tough guys aren’t just typical TexAgs idiots, they’re far worse. They are the Site Manager and Editor of the only Aggie blog in SB Nation, an otherwise respectable organization. Beergut and miketag represent TAMU at some level, regardless of the unofficial capacity. In my experience, both personal and professional, their type is not as rare as you might hope.
If any of our BON managers or editors wrote something like this, I’d boycott this site, but every member here knows that’s not a possibility:
I don’t want to hear about Colt McCoy’s injury or, “if only Colt had a chance to play in the game…” Colt did have a chance to play in the game. He completed two passes, for nine yards. He was physically unable to continue playing in the game because of a hit he took on an option play. Maybe if Colt was a little bit physically tougher, the game might have been different, but maybe not. One-Hit McCoy, Sissyboy McCoy, all are apt descriptions of McCoy after Thursday night. Garret Gilbert took more hits and harder hits than McCoy did all night, and he kept getting up and kept playing. Stephen McGee took countless hits running the option for A&M for three years, and he never went out of a game. McCoy runs one option play against Alabama, and he’s done for the night. McCoy had his chance to play, he just physically wasn’t up to continuing past four plays.
Link on that?
Is that beergut? If so, he’s discharge from a diseased whang.

Did he mention S. McGee in the same sentence as McCoy?
Colt took a ton of hits his whole career much harder than that one.

I can take everything about the comment
but the name calling from this aggie cunnus. The team medical staff wouldn’t let Colt back in the game even after he begged them. I posted a fanshot of the official statement today on BON.

Anyone know how to unsubscribe to a blog?
I for one am tired of reading his senseless dribble and no longer want to be a part of it. I don’t believe SBNation will ever do anything about it, but at the least I can reduce the number of members by one.

haha sergio dumb?
lets talk about how he knocked the shit out of mcgee
While most are dreaming of success, winners wake up and work hard to achieve it.
Yep, he banned me!
And he had this to say in his banning message:
I think someone who is completely incapable of listening to a dissenting view is worse than a worthless piece of shit, but that’s just me.
Yes, citizens of BON, writing “One-Hit McCoy, Sissyboy McCoy, all are apt descriptions of McCoy after Thursday night.” is merely a “dissenting view.” And calling out the author of these words makes one “worse than a worthless piece of shit.”
That made my afternoon!

BG will ban you for cursing
Aside from open threads he has a somewhat strict no cursing policy, at least from what he says.
Sometimes people make an account, talk trash, curse, and then make fun of BG for banning them because of the different opinions or trash talking. Sometimes, it is just about the cursing.
When I was banned, I got no message at all.
To be fair, his no cursing policy is due to the hundreds of underage readers that flock to the 12TH man blog.

You really are a douche.
Kid plays his heart out for the university and goes down on the first drive of the National Championship game and you sit behind your computer screen and call him names. Grow up, dude. Shit was not funny three years ago and it is not funny now. I don’t want to see any of these kids injured and you make light of it. Way to go. You feel better about yourself now?

It’ll help drive up his click count (already beyond 23 today!), but oh well.
The sad part is
that even if some disciplinary action is taken, they won’t see it as their fault. They’ll see it as another reason to hate UT.
The sadder part is absolutely no disciplinary action will possibly be taken.
It's not so much that a "disciplinary action" is needed . . .
. . . as is some serious quality control from SBNation.
The Aggie blog on SBNation is an unmitigated failure. Based on the ads you see on SBNation sites, I imagine that there is somewhat of a profit motive here. More visits=more ad revenue. It seems as though Texas A&M, despite the existence of beergut’s sandlot, remains virgin territory, more or less for SBNation, and finding a more dynamic site editor or editors would be in SBNation’s best interest.
"Texas played without its best player for nearly 56 minutes. There's an asterisk." -- Ivan Maisel, ESPN.com
Its really about the readership.
We have a vibrant community of Big 12 bloggers and it makes our experience as UT fans more fun. We have people from RockChalkTalk, RockMNation, CrimsonandCreamMachine, etc. to debate with. Unfortunately, you really can’t call what’s happening over at Iamthe12thman a “community”. There are schools with much smaller fanbases with a much larger internet presence on SBnation. That needs to be fixed.

I just went over to the Aggie board and noticed there were only what, 2-3 guys there?
To talk about the BCS champ game. LOL. No wonder that Beergut loser always trolls the BON boards. Poor bastard doesn’t have any one to actually talk to over there. (Hey, Beergut, I bet you’re reading this right now, huh?) I remember once making a post about how the Ags were going to get creamed by OU in their game (and they were), and ol Beergut deleted it. He can dish it out, but he can’t take it. Loser.
In-VINCE-able.
No need to apologize
Beergut and his sidekick are who they are. Everyone knows about him now and I have already written SB nation to encourage his removal as site editor. I’m sure it won’t make a difference but it’s what I can do since Aggieland deserves a proper home.
Your tongue can't repel flavor of that magnitude!!
Beer gut is reviled at DTN for the same kind of behavior. Seems that most ags feel the same about him considering that many of his open game-day threads earlier this year got 40-50 posts.

iamthe12thman is the most unprofessional thing on SBN
I got banned for making fun of beergut. He was getting completely owned by a Tech fan who moderates the Washington Redskins site, i simply pointed it out and was banned. Iamjackburton hit the nail on the head, HE CAN DISH IT OUT, BUT CAN’T TAKE IT. The sad little man that is beergut won’t ban people anymore because he needs people to come on his site and make comments.
If you can’t get rid of him for being juvenile and classless, then they should be able to get rid of him for not doing his job. He constantly misspells words in his “columns”. Nor does he attract any kind of attention to his site. Isn’t atm one of the biggest schools in the country? You would think with that kind of fanbase, they would have more than beergut and his little sidekick/boyfriend miketag.
Thanks, Aggie
The people you’re talking about come out of the woodwork when Texas loses or a player gets injured, they aren’t quite as malicious most of the time. Unfortunately some of your fan base appear to be more ‘haters’ of opponents than they are fans of the Aggies. I suspect these people are generally miserable and malicious and don’t contribute a whole lot of positive influence anywhere.
It’s good to hear one of you ‘Good Aggies’ speak out before I forget that you are the silent majority. But I have to say you are few and far between.
