Quick Recap: Longhorns Win Conference Opener

The No. 2 Texas Longhorns started this conference season as they have each of the last 11, with a victory. Texas pulled away from Colorado late in the first half to grab a 15 point halftime lead. The Longhorns and Buffaloes played back and forth for much of the second. Late in the game, though, it was all Texas. The Longhorn bigs caused four Buffaloes to foul out. Texas won their fifteenth straight game to start this season, 103-86, and is now one of just three undefeated teams in the country.

Game balls go to Avery Bradley and Damion James. Bradley scored a career-high 29 points, grabbed  a career-high nine boards, and played nearly the entire contest. DaMo was his usual outstanding self, both scoring and rebounding. He earned his eight double-double of the season with a 20 point, 14 rebound performance.

Nods to the Texas bench as well. Jai Lucas, Jordan Hamilton, and Gary Johnson each played well.

Quickly, if Colorado is the worst team in the Big XII, this league is going to be really, really tough. The Buffaloes have two outstanding guards, a solid pick-and-pop forward, and execute Jeff Bzdelik's sets extremely well.

More analysis to come later. Use this as your celebration thread.

And right now, Georgia is playing Kentucky down to the wire.

I’m content with a non-perfect victory today.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

Bradley

Avery Bradley’s jump shot is absurdly smooth. He really elevates when he shoots it.

Not really a good defensive performance

from a shooting standpoint. They’re a good offensive team, but we’re good enough to not allow any teams to shoot over 50%.

Our best defense today was rebounding. They only got 4 offensive rebounds off of their 26 missed field goals. They made a good percentage of their shots, but took 11 fewer shots than us, thanks to their lack of second chance opportunities.

Incredible efficiency out of Bradley. I was waiting for him to explode, but I didn’t expect it to happen this early given his recent shooting struggles.

Another decent game from the free throw line. I’ll take anything close to 70% for this team.
