Blogpoll Top 25 Ballot -- Week Seven

Stay connected for news and updates

In 2009 our favorite college and professional teams (Texas and the Super Bowl Champs) both went 13-0 to begin the season before losing their 14th game. This season they're both 3-2 and having trouble putting the ball in the end zone. While the Saints embarrassed themselves in the desert this week, Texas managed to stop its downward spiral of losing enough to get a homer vote at the back end of our poll. Woo bye week! On to the rankings:

Explanations and apologies for stupidly forgetting to rank Bama (they would probably be #10 if we'd remembered).

  • Alabama was flat beaten in Columbia. South Carolina simply outplayed the Tide and looked great doing it. That said, of course, not ranking them was a mistake that we didn't notice until after the complicated html entry and we are too technically incompetent to figure out how to change it. Our bad.
  • At this point in time we see Ohio State, Boise and Oregon as 1A, 1B and 1C. OSU looked best this week so we'll put them at #1.
  • Holy crap are we scared of what Nebraska will do on Saturday. Prove us wrong, kids. Prove us wrong!
  • LSU vs Oklahoma was the one disagreement we had.
    •
      • AO says LSU's resume is much better, with Oklahoma playing poorly in several games including the almost-loss to Utah State. Which is worse than an almost-loss to North Carolina, even if was the Tarheel B Team on defense. And the Tigers dominated every aspect of the game against Florida despite needing last-minute heroics to win.
      • JA says OU beat Texas by 8 and the game wasn't really in doubt, OU beat the crap out of a better than average FSU team and beat a not bad Air Force team. I disagree that OU's resume is worse.
      • LSU has back to back games against Auburn and Bama (again, sorry for not ranking them) coming up. That will sort this out pretty clearly.
  • Arkansas gets punished for looking mediocre against Texas A&M. We thought Michigan was average and turns out they are. Won't punish them too much for one loss against a pretty good MSU team.
  • Texas gets ranked for not losing. We ran out of teams to rank after 23, but probably would've had Texas at 25 if there had been just one more good team deserving to be ranked ahead of them. Oh well, next week.
