The scout QB this week will be Taylor Martinez per Jeff Howe from 24/7sports. They are using him to emulate the speed and quickness of Taylor for the defense to become accustomed to taking the correct lanes and angles for the tackle.

Will Muschamp also stated that Chris Jones will be doing some reps at scout QB this week as well.

Makes sense

Considering Fitzhenry was such a standout running QB at Giddings, he strikes me as the right guy for this role.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I heard Mack say this

Wonder why there aren’t any packages created for him in the offense is he is a similar athlete to Martinez. Is he too small or just buried on the depth chart at wr?

It caught on in the NFL. I’ve seen the Dolphins and Jets trot out the WC for a play or two for whatever reason, so obviously GDGD is some kind of trendsetter.

Also, at this point, is any kind of change really that bad an idea? The current malaise just makes everything kind of relative. In all seriousness, if we were to take the field and play Brock at QB all day and run the zone read non-stop, I would applaud the effort versus the setup we’ve seen from the first five games. I can hope for strong running and intermediate/long passing, but I’d settle for anything being different, anything at all.

To circle back to Taylor Martinez and UN-L… I’m convinced that we can crush this offense to the tune of 10 or 13 points, if we can average two first downs per drive on offense. Our personnel is strong enough and definitely quick enough for this, they’re just getting gassed and suffering from the lack of interior line depth. A tall order, I know. So much heartburn this year.
