Chat with Ivan Maisel on Texas today
The following is what Maisel said today on his ESPN chat related to Texas:
"I know it's a favorite pastime of Orangebloods to rag on Greg Davis, the guy who taught Vince Young and Colt McCoy to win everything in sight over the last seven seasons. There's nothing wrong with the Texas playcalling that a better offensive line wouldn't solve. Texas still doesn't have a running game, and now they don't have a quarterback who can compensate for that problem. But they'll get it fixed."
Nothing wrong with the Texas playcalling - what Texas games has he watched?

Hmmm...
Taught VY and Colt to win everything? Or they kept his dead weight on the coaching staff 7 years longer than he should be?
Thanks Maisel, that’s profound insight.
He may be right up to a point
Greg Davis’ play-calling would indeed be more effective with a better O line, although he should add better WR’s and RB’s. But the follow-up question to Maisel should be, "We’ll given that UT doesn’t have a better O line, shouldn’t the play-calling be changed to reflect that obvious fact of life? Afterall, Mike Leach did quite well with a short passing game. Of course, his players weren’t tackled immediately after catching the pass but had “like a zillion” YAC. .
