First 3-game home losing streak since...?

From SI.com, " which also marked UT's first three-game home losing streak since 1988."

From Austin American Statesman, "First group since 1938 to lose three straight games at home..."

From ESPN, "Texas has lost three straight home games in a season for the first time since 1997."

I'm guessing the confusion comes from Oklahoma loss in 1997 being counted as a home game. 1988 season has consecutive home losses to Arkansas, Houston and A&M, so I'm not sure where the 1938 number comes in (consecutive home losses to SMU, Baylor and A&M). http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/all-time-results.html
