I'm hanging on no matter what...
I have nothing substantial to say, nor anything special that will make you get out of bed any quicker than I did because you fear you'll be reminded of losing to Baylor.
All I can say is that as much as things might be bad, this team is blood, its family, and no matter what happens, you dont turn back on family.
Im not turning away. I might curse the team every game, I might scream at every drop ball, every stupid play call and every dropped punt. But I will sit and support and watch my team every week.
This is my team and, good or bad, I aint getting off, even if the ship is burning!
Hook 'em!

Since this post, I have been very glad of the positive response I have received. It wasnt really meant to be a rallying cry or anything of the sort. It was something I felt like saying out loud and a way to remind myself how much I love the team. Stay strong guys, and show your love at games. Believe me, people like me, who are up North, 5 states away from Texas, would give up a lot just see the Horns play in DKR, even if they do a poor job on the field.

This is my team too
Heck, my alma mater too! I’ll watch Texas football (and basketball, and baseball) until the day I die.
It's a Horns' world. Even Aggies play hoops with a burnt orange ball.
I can't turn my back
but I want to stage an intervention.
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
I'll second that intervention.
Mack is all hopped up on way too much Greg Davis and we love him too much to continue watching him harm himself and us.

I grew up with the Horns and I'm damn sure I'll go wherever they go.
I don’t have the means to get up and travel to every road/neutral site game but I’ll continue to support them as loud as ever every home game.
However high or low, Hook ’em for life.
I'm with you.
This season reminds of the year that I believe we played Colorado in the Big 12 championship with Major Applewhite. Applewhite was bringing us back and had Colorado on the ropes. Then we go into to block the punt and get a roughing the kicker call. Game Over. This season reminds me over and over of that game. This season is my own personal Groundhog Day.
I'm with this team no matter what.
I am not a T-Shirt fan that the Ags try to make fun of, nor do I think that we have many of those. However, I will still call them out when they do something stupid. Doesn’t mean I don’t have any loyalty, just that I am frustrated by their performance.
By the way fire GDGD already!! One National Championship in the tenure of VY and CM? reason enough to show that coaching is not as good as Texas deserves or can afford.
Amen
Tough love is legitimate, so long as you don’t lose site that it’s love.
Well said, and I’m with you.

Thank you!
Some of us ‘old timers’ remember it being worse… but we’re still here and still bleeding burnt orange. No where to go but up!!
Hook Em!
I am not an old timer by any means
But I am with you 100% I love this team, through the good and bad.

Amen.
My generation is making me sick right now, especially fellow alumnus. I expect t-shirt fans to start jumping off the ship (no offence to non alumni that have stayed loyal; you are most appreciated), but I’m even seeing it from alumni in my age bracket. There are far too many in their 20s that never followed Texas until they set foot on the 40 Acres and are completely spoiled. They don’t remember the 90s or how bad it used to be. Yes, I was young, so I probably couldn’t fully appreciate the severity of those days, but I’ve followed Texas religiously since I was old enough to know what was going on, and I remember how bad it hurt to see the team constantly lose. Like you said, you don’t turn your back on family, and I just wish my generation knew better and would realize that this is when the team needs us the most.

That goes for me, too...
…I agree. Even though “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not gonna take this anymore,” I care and I love Longhorn football. Like my dad always said, “Ya throw enough shit against the wall, something’s bound to stick”. Exactly what relevance that has here, I’m not entirely sure, but it applies better than my dad shouting at me, “Turn that goddam Wurlitzer down!” He just didn’t understand rock and roll, but he and I shared a love for Texas Longhorn football…Hook ’em always

Who is turning their backs? NO ONE.
But loyalty doesn’t mean “be a moron and just cheer when they’re driving the car into the ditch”. At the end of the day, that speaks more to loyalty than blindly saying “Yay!” for everything. I will never turn my back on UT (my still-unpaid government student loans won’t allow me, alas) but I won’t sit quietly by and watch us SUCK when so much can be done to change that fate. Like, gosh, I don’t know, ACCEPTING that you suck and CHANGING.

In the spirit of the the final season of Friday Night Lights...
Texas forever….
Embellished…
Hook’em forever.
Hey, the system is not perfect. But, it's better than the one we had. Um, really? Joe Paterno led 4 undefeated teams under the old system that were not National Champions. With this "better" system, we've only had to endure a BCS controversy OR an inconclusive end to the following seasons: 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.
I got your back
I was in Acapulco (tough life) and coudln’t only get the game play-by-play reading it online. Seemed like we wiffed on a long run by Baylor, then threw and int. to give them 14 quick points when] we had been playing fairly well. I was angry/annoyed/frustarted to read that many of the passes that simply show up on play by play as “incomplete pass” were actually dropped balls. I know GG is our guy—he has a rifle of an arm and is a smart kid ready to abide as told. We need an OL and Receivers, and a TE woudl be nice, that play ball. And, a freadking OC that is putting it together. It all comes down on the offense. We need better OL play—-which we have known. From the scroring on long playes, I find it ridiculous for A. Williams to think he will be a 1st ir even a 2nd rounder if he was to jump to the NFL. So, I think we are set to have a great team next year. Shiplley will come in ad the kid knows how to get open. D. White will be ready step in. David will be health and Goodwin will be a silent leader of elte talent. Our OL will be stacked with redshiirt talent, plus the few guys hurt and hopefully even a fresh. stud. WE are fine. This year is sucking, but really, we are only losing games by 1 score and we have so much more talent to hit the field. This is nothing like the Akers/Mackevich erea. NOTHING.
Nicely said
I’m getting a little tired of reading all the negatives about the team. I have accepted the fact that this isn’t the team of years past. I still believe Texas will be back next year and will be a beast of a team with a lot to prove.
I also thought it was great how fans stuck around for the most part during the Baylor game. It was great seeing the crowd react when Colt came out as well. There was a lot more energy in the crowd.
I have to admit I was in shock during the Iowa State game. I was sure we would win by 3 TD’s easily. Still, I stuck around. Just hoping they would be able to pull some magic out.
Hook ’em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As an Iowa State fan...
I know a thing or 3 about sticking with your team through the hard times. Hell, since we lost Seneca Wallace, almost every d@#* season has been nothing but sticking by your team. Now we have a great coach, and we are possibly (crossing fingers…) going to 2 straight bowl games in a row (which, if you know much about ISU Football, it is a huge improvement) and things are looking bright again. When i got on here, i saw comments from a few fans saying that they were done with this team. I mean, you are freaking TEXAS…even by name, you are automatically a powerhouse! You have one of the biggest names in the nation! One not-so-good year is not a death sentence. I would very much like to see you succeed both this year and in the years to come (except when playing ISU, of course).

Never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, he'll tell you soon enough. If he's not, don't embarrass him.
LSU guy here...
and this is the way any fan should be. Being critical/getting upset is part of it when the team does not do well and I curse and shout as much as anyone else although I don’t think booing is the right thing to do at any time (you did not bring this up but we have had to deal with some of this this year). All teams will have off years and this is when they need your support the most. I was baptized through the tough years of Archer/Hallman/Dinardo—there were six straight losing seasons in that span and my college years were the last Archer year and all of Hallmans’ although I still remember the improbable win over Bama in 93 in T-town as a bright spot—not to mention being a kid through the up and down years of the 80’s and will always look forward to the next game with part of the little kid still there and will never take any win for granted. UT has a ton of talent and will get it together in time. Hang in there

Thanks Horns for saving the best conference in the country..ISU fan.

I have been bleeding Burnt Orange as long as I remember
I don’t plan to change now. We need to help this team all we can. Come early, Be loud, Stay Late.
Crowd noise should be causing at least a timeout, and a false start or two. We need to do more, just like our players need to make more big plays.
Truth is, we have been in all the games, we just need to make the big plays happen and stop giving games away.
Thanks for making a good post to keep us focused on getting these guys bowl eligible and finishing strong.
Do you really think the fans can make an appreciable difference?
I seriously doubt it. This team needs to play for itself anyway. The players and coaches have no right to expect fan support at this point. They have done nothing to deserve it. But that’s okay, coaches and players, clap, clap, clap.

Absolultely FANS can make an IMPACT
I am a Texans season ticket holder (gave my ticket to a friend today).
I KNOW that we caused a couple false starts and a timeout against Kansas City. The place was ROCKING!! There are times when a a team is going for it on 4th and short and if you can cause a false start, it become 4th and 6. Big diffrence.
You can also sense the momentum change among the fans as well as the team.
I’m not pollyana, this Longhorn team needs so much help—I just don’t even know where to start with correcting the problems.
+1

bad times
Times like this is going to happen every now and then. I don’t car who the program is, off years are inevidable. Furst one in like 20 years isn’t bad I’d say. We can’t get spoiled to have qb after qb come in and be better then the last. It was a matter of time when a qb didn’t get the job done and doesn’t translate from practice to gameday. I’m se we got spoiled to have Young follow Simms/Applewhite, and McCoy to follow Young.
I still think GG is going to be great
The O-line and WRs haven’t done much to help him any. He is building chemistry with Mike Davis and Goodwin. D. White will start to get some action and our little Shipley is coming in next year. And, we are getting an actual RB. I’m not writing off GG at all. I think he will be a great one. This is just an f’d up year.
At this point, the line is the only part of the offense that's improved
From what I’ve seen, Gilbert has been having ample time to find open targets. He’s just staring them down, and when he does finally get the ball over the DL’s hands without it getting tipped, the WR either drops it or the DB is well on his way to jump in front to either get a PBU or INT

Can't we all get along?
Think of the children.
Seriously, let’s not allow the dismal play on the field make us start turning on each other. Sometimes things are just a bit out of context when writing versus hearing how someone really meant it.
DW actually had a good point GG sure does not know how to get a ball over the DL very well. GG is plenty tall, so I don’t know what that is about—probably he fixes too much onto his target so they know right where to block it.
Thanks, Wrangler.
