Coaching Changes: Whispers Behind The Scenes
“You don’t know what it’s like being out here for you. It is an up at dawn, all day, pride swallowing siege that you will never fully appreciate.”–Jerry Macguire to Rod Tidwell.
Interestingly enough, after talking to our guy who converses with the Young Guns on the staff frequently, this Maguire clip conveys precisely how Muschamp and Applewhite feel. We were the first to report the internal damage caused by the “I can’t trust my coaches”, post-Iowa State tomfoolery out of Mack Brown. Unfortunately, that sentiment continues to permeate throughout the program and it’s obvious in the defensive coordinator’s coaching style in recent weeks.
When you’re top 5 in yards allowed and barely top 50 in points allowed, it takes an abject moron to not realize where the problem resides. Rest assured it’s not lost on the HCIW, who has little, if any input on what goes on with the other side of the ball—until now that is.
