For the last several years, I have watched little pro football (not pro football with tiny players, but I haven't watched very much). I stopped watching about the time the Cowboys won their last Super Bowl in the mid-1990s. Has it really been that long? Maybe I didn't watch the pros much because Longhorn football was at least consistently acceptable and satisfying and at times sensational. Well . . . that was . . . before this year. Now, I ain't taking nothin' away from last night's victory. At least it gave the team a taste of what it feels like to play Longhorn football. I wish them continued success, and I will watch "d'em tru t'ick and t'in." (That's coonass.) But I do find that I am more interested in pro football this year than I have been for over a decade. Maybe I'm just not gettin' my fix on Saturday. Colt's story is amazing. I refer to the Tennessee Titians as the "Tennessee Longhorns" since they have more ex-Longhorns than any other team in the NFL, and they are all players that we as fans can be proud of. I need to watch the Bengals, too, before the season's over. Quan and Shipley on the same team. aaaaawsome. And what about the freakin' Cowboys? They fire their coach midseason who wins in his debut AND with a second string QB. Gotta love the Cowboys over the years. Dandy Don. The Bullet. Too Tall. The Beautiful Harvey Martin. Puddin'. "The Thrill." Roy Williams is one of my alltime favorite ex-Longhons. Are you watching more? Who are you watching? Who do the "Keepers of True Fandom" think we should be watching. I gotta go. I'm gonna go someplace where I can watch the Browns, Titans, Cowboys and Texans all at the same time. Beats walkin' 10 miles in the snow to go to school. And my wife will probably want to watch the Saints after that. That's coonass.
