Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

The injuries keep on coming for the Longhorns, as starting cornerback Chykie Brown's inconsistent Texas career is now over after breaking his forearm Saturday night against Kansas State.

Carrington Byndom, who played well in brief action late in the game, is Brown's likely replacement.

I know I shouldn't say this,

Come on

Thanks for the effort Chykie. Best of luck to you C Byndom.

I wonder if we shouldn’t stop playing all our seniors and start getting the younger guys a jump for next year.

Wow

Just wow.

You're gonna strongly agree with some of what I say, and you'll strongly disagree with some of what I say. Either way, I don't give a d@#n. I'm just here to talk sports.

thats a terrible thing to say...

…you really should be ashamed of yourself.
I can easily say much worse things to you, but I’ll hold my tongue!

You're lame.

And a terrible reflection on the Longhorn fan base.

Please go root for some Philadelphia team because you sound like a Philly fan.

You've never played in an actual competitive game in your life have you?

You are a JACKASS. Those kids bust they’re rear ends for the program for 4 or 5 years and you have that to say? Congratulations.

LOL

I don’t think 95% of the people here have ever played a sport.

I love my children.

I love them like Chykie Brown probably loves football. If someone put my kids behind a glass window and told me to watch them play with someone else while I watched, it might not only hurt me but also piss me off. If you have any REAL experience with sports and fighting through injuries to help your team then you know how much it SUCKS to be injured. I bet you cheer when someone on the other team gets injured. Dude you seriously need to find another team to follow if that’s gonna be your attitude.

I only cheer

if the player on the other team is one of their stars. Like Hotlips Houlihan cheered in MASH, “He’s hurt. He’s hurt. He’s outta the game. He’s hurt.”

Seriously, just stop. You are a terrible reflection on the great Longhorn fanbase. I doubt anyone here respects you.

Dude.

It’s a line from a book and a movie? Don’t you read?

I understand what your saying…we have to forget about this season and get ready for next year and get these young kids experience.

I'm sure it wouldn't have bothered you at all

If some overzealous parent wrote or said “THANK GOD THAT SHITTY KID BROKE HIS ARM NOW WE CAN PLAY SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WTF THEY ARE DOING”

by Hobbes881 on Nov 8, 2010 12:26 PM CST up reply actions

I didn't say that.

Almost every other commentator on this sight has complained about how badly Chykie has played this season. I think it’s good news that we’ll get to see somebody in his place, especially one of the young guys. I am happy for Carrington. Is it good news that Chykie got hurt? No. Is it good news that we are going to see Byndom? Yes. You’re way too sensitive.

by Hobbes881 on Nov 9, 2010 4:09 PM CST up reply actions

Just saw on Twitter

that Chip Brown is speculating Kenny Vaccaro will take over in the nickel and Aaron Williams will move to Brown’s cornerback spot. Probably makes more sense than putting in Byndom, but the young kid does need to get some more playing time this season.

by Wescott Eberts (GoBR) on Nov 7, 2010 2:09 PM CST reply actions

I like the idea

Of Vaccaro playing the Earl Thomas spot that can swing between S and CB. I also like the idea of Adrian Phillips doing the same thing. Personally, I’d have no problem with Phillips taking over for Gideon or Scott. Neither have played well lately and they’ll be the anchors of the secondary next year. Scary.

by GoHornsGo90 on Nov 7, 2010 4:47 PM CST up reply actions

That's awful

I heard he got pulled out of the game, but had no idea it was this serious. I hope he heals up soon.

by notsofst on Nov 7, 2010 3:06 PM CST reply actions

If he gets a replacement of a freshman at CB

why not AJ White? Has Byndom passed him in the CB depth ranks?

by Hobbes881 on Nov 7, 2010 4:44 PM CST reply actions

I believe so

I’ve been wondering that myself for the last few weeks. Seemed like AJ was the guy back in the off-season that would be getting the run when we were ahem blowing teams out this season. Now it’s Phillips and Byndom instead. Kind of weird.

by GoHornsGo90 on Nov 7, 2010 4:45 PM CST up reply actions

Indeed.

He was the early enrollee who the coaches were saying was going to see a lot of playing time this year.

Then again, the coaches said Hales would see the field more after the ISU game (nothing against Baylor) and the absence of Monroe is just laughable now.

I bet Monroe would be a star at Oregon right now.

by Hobbes881 on Nov 7, 2010 5:01 PM CST up reply actions

At least we finally started going to Hales some against KSU

Yet DJ is still not getting touches. I agree he’d tear it up in one of the many Duck unis.

by GoHornsGo90 on Nov 7, 2010 5:16 PM CST up reply actions

As the season has been

Maybe if the injuries weren’t so great, Gilbert wouldn’t have to have the whole team on his shoulders and he wouldn’t have to carry this team even though it seems like he’s not capable of putting the team on his back like McCoy and Young could. It was bound to happen eventually. Even with the recruiting classes, Texas can’t always have a quarterback come in who is just as good or better then the one before. Texas was due to have a quarterback who hasn’t translated from practice to gameday.

by Ryan2907 on Nov 7, 2010 5:22 PM CST reply actions

Couldn't agree more

We were very lucky to have two Heisman caliber QB’s in a row spanning 8 or so years
but it’s not always going to happen that way, which is why the offense needs to be much more diversified with responsibilty spread around evenly. Gilbert accounted for 370 of our 412 yards last night. Recurring pattern.

Gilbert can’t carry this team on his back.
