Sherrod Harris
I wonder what he is thinking right now. He was a legitimate dual threat quarterback. He might have been able to make something out of the horrendous playcalling of GD. Who knows, he could have also emerged as a leader that this team desperately needs. Anyway, just thinking what could have been after seeing how bad this team has been. Let's hope they show up this weekend against OSU and make it a game.

Interesting observation
Perhaps. I"m also curious to see what McCoy or Woods would do if given the chance. The way this is going, we may get to find out with them. Harris almost certainly would have played this week if he had stayed.
good call, mat0316
I hadn’t thought about Sherrod is quite a while. I would remind mat0316 that he was genuinely awful throwing the ball.
He never really had a chance to play
And besides, the coaching staff seems to think that the quarterback needs to be the running back as well. I don’t know how many times MB has said that Gilbert needs to make more plays with his feet. Next thing you know he is going to say that Gilber needs to do a better job of running down the field to catch his own passes.
Sherrod Harris....aka...Benedict Arnold
Where the hell did he go? I haven’t heard a peep about him.
Ummm...
He didn’t go anywhere (except the classroom). He quit the football team to focus on academics.
Benedict Arnold?
Why the mean comment about him? He’s a good kid. He didn’t betray anyone.
Sheesh.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Word is that he did try to transfer to UCLA
I can’t say that I blame the guy though. I can’t say that I’ve heard it straight from him, but the coaches wouldn’t release him to transfer is the rest of the rumor. Sherrod is actually a really nice guy, I see him around campus quite a bit and have talked to him quite a few times. This is pure speculation, but I get the impression he’s the kind of guy that realized football isn’t the end all, be all for him. I saw him in Lubbock this year and the only things he had to say about the game were nice things about his teammates and hoping to watch them pull out a W. I wish him nothing but success in the future and despite him leaving the team, I think he’s on the right track.
As a 5th-year senior,
there would be no purpose for him to transfer to UCLA (or any D1-A, sorry FBS, team) because he would never be able to play.
A couple years ago, not recently
It might have been when Chiles took the back up spot on the depth chart
I thought the kid would've been a pretty good option
He’s been running the scout team forever, he’s mobile, and he knew the offense. I was not happy to see him go.

Quan Cosby
Anybody watching the game tonight? Did you see that fingertip catch he made catching the punt? Man I miss those days when Texas had a capable punt returner and wide receiver (Mike Davis excluded)….
I wouldn't exclude Mike Davis from that group
I’ve seen enough balls go off his hands into the other team’s.
I see your point
But I look at the fact that he is a true freshman and has been more productive than any of the other receivers. I know that really isn’t saying much considering how bad the unit as a whole has been (I still can’t believe how I thought the receivers were going to be the best unit in the Big XII back in the spring). But still, I think his play has been a lone brightspot in an otherwise disappointing unit.
Dont anybody get their hopes up about seeing McCoy or Woods....
Check out the interview Mack gave at www.msn.foxsports.com . Under NCAA FB – Headlines.
He doesn’t want to send a bad message to his QB that just threw 5 picks ????
I’m going to be sick.

Wow it has gotten desperate
If a career bench warmer who has long left the team is now the unicorn on the what if horizon.
I have no issue with Sherrod, but he couldn’t beat out Chiles as a QB, and Chiles is a pretty bad QB. Sherrod is/was not the magical answer to have saved this season… good grief.

Corecto!
Sherrod is not the answer.
The answer? An offseason. Some huevos for Mack Daddy. A new offensive coordinator. A nationally recognized therapist for GG. Shipley and Cosby to run a receivers camp on how to run a route/catch a ball/block a DB. Nothing but tackling drills for our safety postition, special session on how not to get dump trucked for Gideon. A Running Back, or 2, or 3. An O-Line. An interior D-Line. Most importantly a whole lot of Prozac and Cumbaya.
We’ll see how many of these things we can obtain. I’m not holding my breath on any of them, except the Cumbaya.
A fair list
But Id trade most of it for a solid TE.
The biggest head scratcher for me is how years later, we still don’t have an adequate replacement for Blaine.

I've never missed someone I barely know as much as I miss him
F-that rice, wyoming, or whoever the hell it was that blew out his knee. That play still gives me goose bumps
I would've settled for a guy who could've protected the ball
Complete 25% of your passes? Fine, as long as you limit yourself to maybe one turnover per game.

Wouldn't matter if he were still with the team.
Mack now says he didn’t take Gilbert out even after 5 int’s because he didn’t want to “crush” his confidence, so it doesn’t matter who was sitting on the bench. Mack is sticking with Gilbert come hell or high water.

How about using all 3 QB's?
What have we got to lose. They get playing time & we get to see who might really be the best starter.
uh...a RS in one of them?
Why waste Connor’s year for a blown season? I agree opening up the QB competition next year.

Have every other position
up for grabs then. Maybe they can come up with a group that might win. IDK, I’m just grasping here. I hate to see this happen to our HORNS. I’m just beside myself at what I’ve seen this year.
Where is the sense of urgency ? We cannot afford to lose a bowl.
Granted we can only be semi confident about an FAU win, but we need to pull out the stops and get bowl eligible. We need the practice, we need the experience. Sitting here rolling out the same guys and the same losing formula is crazy at best..
If you think it sucks now, and we dont go bowling, when the 2011 Horns roll out GG throwing a bubble screen and Gideon head ramming a receiver its going to be SUCK CITY on steroids !
