Around SBN: Ryder Hesjedal Wins Giro d'Italia

Aaron Williams will leave if he gets a first round grade. My guess is that he will receive a 2nd or third round grade (already a couple of good CBs a lock for the first round: see prince amukamara/ PP@LSU). I think he still leaves

Most believe hes a solid first

maybe somewhere 20 and down.

and the clouds opened up and God said "I Hate you Texans Fans."

yes

Most believed he was a first rounder before the season began. And then 5-7 happened and his stock dropped a bit. Anything could happen though, who thought Sergio was gonna end up in the second round?

It really is all about how far he's fallen, if at all

GoBR said he didn’t think his stock had dropped, IIRC. He may be right, because even though I think he was fairly inconsistent this season, it just takes one team to fall in love with a guy for him to go in the first round.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I'd put

Patrick Peterson from LSU ahead of him too…

I suppose it depends on how many teams need a CB in the first round

sorry

thats what ‘PP@LSU’ was referring too

Ah, that makes sense

In that case, I agree with both your sentiments. Probably lost first round status since CBs aren’t taken too often in round one….but he leaves anyway.

Unless the lockout plays some factor in all of this, which is hard to figure out at this point

How would a lockout impact his decision?

How would that impact any number of Jr’s decisions.

by GoHorns on Dec 10, 2010 6:09 PM CST reply actions

I don't know all of the logistics

But I believe there is still a draft, so the teams can get rights to the players. However, they won’t be signing anyone during a lockout so that could play a factor if we get there.

Does a player go do something else during a lockout? Stay in school? Take the shot and wait it out like other NFL players? This definitely factors into Jr’s decisions, but I don’t think we will know anything until we get closer to draft/lockout/reaching agreements time.

My question as well

Lockout is the elephant in the room here

You ain't hurt...

Jamaal Charles ...

… as a Jr., said that if he got word from the NFL that he’d be a first-rounder, then he’d go pro. If not, he’d stay in Austin. Well, he got word that he would be drafted in the 2-4 range and … he went pro anyway. Let’s hope that Williams wants to help right the 5-7 ship rather than make millions and be a special-team star for a few years. Hmmmm, tough choice.

I think he will jump--but shouldn't

He should stay another year because contrary to others, I believe his stock most definitely dropped and it is because he did not have a great year.

The Texans need help in the secondary and K. Jackson was our first round pick last year. He was better than Williams would likely be as a Rookie, IMO, and so I feel pretty certain the Williams needs another year. I love for the Texans to draft Longhorns, but I will not be impressed or happy if the Texans (who desperately need secondary assistance) take Williams.

I respectively disagree

Aaron Williams was one of the few bright spots in an underachieving secondary. The defensive line didn’t help him either, and lack of pressure can make a corner back’s job very difficult. I’d hate to see him go, but why come back to play with a defensive unit that might be worse next year?
