Shipley's big night can't save Brownwood
Jaxson Shipley finished with 14 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown, but Brownwood falls to Carthage in the state semifinal.
Is it too soon to get excited about this guy? Given the performance of our WR's this year I hope he graduates early so he can compete for playing time as a true freshman.

He's no longer enrolling in the Spring
He had planned to, but has recently decided to run track & enroll in the fall.

Too bad for Jaxon and Bob Shipley
as well as the rest of the seniors on that Brownwood team, which had a incredible and dominating run this season. Guess it just shows how greedy Carthage and Kendall Thompson are — three straight 3A state championships! Congratulations to the boys from Carthage.
And no, it’s not too soon to get excited about Shipley. He will come in as polished or more polished than Mike Davis, which is to say that he may be the most polished receiver to ever enter the program. Not the most talented, but the most ready to contribute.

GoBR, what are your feelings about him running track this spring?
He’s not as fast as his big bro(4.4 speed?). I’m guessing Jaxon runs a 4.5? I’m thinking he will be working to maximize his speed during the track and field season. Any chance that improves?
I’m not worried about the kid as I’ve followed him for a couple years now and like you said, he’ll be ready to contribute from when he steps on campus. Thanks for your thoughts.
