Longhorn Digest: Austin to be named DC
Looks like it's going to be Teryl Austin. Interesting that the article mentions Shannon is still an option for another position.

This should go over like flatulence in a lift
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Are we sure? I'm tired of all the rumours!
"Football's so important in Texas. On the West Coast, it's a social. On the East Coast, it's a culture. Here, it's a religion."
-- Major Applewhite
I doubt this is true...
two sources in the Florida program? Give me a break. I’ll believe it when the source is actually from Texas. I don’t doubt that Teryl could be a candidate for DC, Co-DC, or towel boy, but this strikes me as just as believable as a two live crew rapper saying Randy Shannon is our next DC.
I’m siding with the ex-rapper. At least that guy has his name out there. One half baked credited opinion is better than a pile of anonymous jabber. The co-DC thing is seeming reasonable as well, if Muschamp does what somebody said he said he wouldn’t do and starts poaching staff.

Muschamp poaching
I have no doubt that he will be doing everything he can to poach coaches. He has jumped into a big hot seat and he will want to surround himself with familiar coaches/friends. He went all-in and will only get one chance at this gig. He has big shoes to fill and no experience as head coach. His transition at Texas would have been much easier. This will be very interesting and I’m not sure if I hope he succeeds or not since I have never liked the Gators. I don’t see him outcoaching Saban, Miles or Spurrier for a start.
I do hope Florida returns to the Zook mode

Shannon and Austin?
Interesting, give me some Jeffcoat with that and call it a day on the D-side. Hope they could all work together and dominate.
I'd rather just add Shannon and someone who knows defensive tackles
Maybe Randy Hart from Stanford? He’s done a pretty good job, I believe producing guys like Larry Triplett and Rien Long.
