Horns' Hammer
ESPN College Sports has posted a story on Juliann Faucette on the front page today.
"Every top volleyball team has a "hammer," a hitter who at the most crucial moments usually finds a way to put the ball down no matter how much the defense keys on him or her. Faucette, whose father played football and whose mother was a gymnast, is that player for Texas. She's also a natural combination of leader/mediator, being the second-oldest of five daughters."

Rachel Adams loves Austin
Austin is an amazing city. That was my biggest fear about choosing a college – regretting it and wishing I would have gone somewhere else. But I’ve had not one regret. This is probably one of the best decisions that I’ve made. The town is cool. The people are cool. The atmosphere is just amazing. Warm weather pretty much all year round. When I come home to Cincinnati, people get sick of me complaining about how cold it is….But Austin is an amazing town. It has so much culture and music and life to it. It’s awesome.
We think you’re pretty awesome too. Glad you picked Texas!

The Gazelles and Lions have followed similar paths to their semi-final clash.

Yes
Match is Thursday at 6pm CST on ESPN2 (Note that most websites list the 7EST start time).
I think a small group of fans will be at the Cedar Door watching the game and if enough show up they’ll get the back room.
2009 National Championship Rematch
The five-set thriller will be remembered not only for the Nittany Lions wiping out a two-set deficit to win their record third straight national title, but for Destinee Hooker’s 34-kill performance that made the Longhorns’ outside hitter the first Most Outstanding Player from the second-place team since PSU’s Lauren Cacciamani shared the honor with Long Beach State’s Misty May in 1998.

Can they close it out this year?
Senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette
On having heartbreaking losses at the NCAA Championships in each of the last two years: It definitely makes you grow. You have to learn from those situations. Being down 2-0 at the break, you have to make a decision to come out and be fired up. From the first year that we made it to the final four against Stanford, Stanford came out [after intermission] and they were a completely different team – same with Penn State last year. We just have to respond. It’s hard to be in those situations twice, but you learn from it as a program and our coaches learn from it. We just take that as experience. We’ve been in a couple of those situations this year and we’ve been able to close out.

Juliann and Rachael are first team All Americans
Only Cal, Penn State and Stanford also placed two on the first team.
This is Juliann’s 3rd first team selection. She also still has an outside shot at Player of the Year honors.
Penn State has the Freshman of the Year, but that easily could have been Hannah Allison if not for her injury.
