Uhm.

This was very much a mutual decision. Mack didn’t include BK in the initial announcement of retirements/resignings out of respect for him because he was already going to Colorado.

This hardly constitutes “raiding our cupboard”.

You can argue semantics all you want

The sentiment is accurate. It would be nice to see Mack, Dodds or Powers let slip they’re at least making progress in restocking our staff.

Yes, it does matter.

Mack did not want to retain Kennedy for next year, but gave him the gracious option of a soft landing instead of a forced resignation. His exit was not unexpected and the process of hiring a replacement is already well on its way.

The timing is still early and leaves the staff with a fair about of breathing room as position coaches won’t be nailed down until after coordinators are hired (and their bowls have ended) as, presumably, our next OC will have some say in regards to the staff working for him. Or he may bring some of his current staff with him.

Plus, remember our wide receiver play from this year? I’m not wringing my hands over this one. Good luck and good riddance.

when you put it that, maybe youre right

WR play has been horrible, I guess iam just frustrated with the lack of movement.

Losing Akina...

…would be an example of “raiding”. Losing Kennedy? Not so much…

exactly

who’s actually losing sleep over Kennedy moving on?

by goingforthecorner on Dec 30, 2010 2:39 PM CST up reply actions

Especially when Mack and co. had already decided not to retain him for next season

This just officially opens up the job all the sooner.

There should be some job posting fun sometime soon here, no?

It's obvious to me that Texas will be the one "claming in windows and snatching yo coaches up."

Mack is just waiting for bowl season to be over. There’s no doubt in my mind Texas will make a big splash with some of their hires. Just be patient.

I hope you are correct.

I would love to see some passion and aggression at something this season. If it can’t be in the actual playing of the game of football, possibly it can be an all-out raid of coaching staffs.

Kennedy applied for Kent State HC job

It didn’t pan out, so he is off to Boulder. He was already advised that he was not going to be retained, but he was given a soft landing opportunity. Unlike GD GD, he chose the classier option and now he looks like he left on his own terms and nobody in CU is going to quibble over whether he chose them or was forced out at UT. It is a win-win, except that he does have some good recruiting bases here in Texas and may compete with us a bit. Madden is on the same track, but I am not sure if anyone is interested in him. As to GD GD, I can’t wait to hear him announced as Michigan’s new HC,<- Satire
