Texas Volleyball Dismisses UTSA, Faces UCLA Saturday

The Gregory Gazelles dismissed UTSA with a 3-0 sweep (25-11,18,15) Friday night at Gregory.  Prior to their match #9 UCLA needed 5 sets to take out American University.  These results set up a Saturday night clash at 6:30 pm for Texas and UCLA.  The winner advances to next week's regional also being played at Gregory Gym.

The Horns were led by Juliann Faucette, the Big 12 Player of the Year, and Rachael Adams, last week's Big 12 Player of the Week.   The match also marked the return of Hannah Allison to the lineup as Coach Elliott dusted off a 6-2 offense with Allison and Haley Cameron subbing in for Amber Roberson and Michelle Kocher, respectively.    The Horns never really struggled tonight and easily handled the Roadrunners.

UCLA was down 5-8 in the fifth set before mounting a furious comeback to avoid an early round upset.  I expect the Bruins to come out tomorrow night playing at another level as they try to knock off Texas.  It's a battle of two teams ranked in the Top 10 of the Coaches Poll.  Get your tickets here!   Isn't supporting a Longhorn team better than watching two Big 12 football teams who both make you want to vomit?
