Sam Acho wins William V. Campbell Trophy
The Campbell Trophy is the highest athletic-academic award in college football, known as the "Academic Heisman". Acho is the second Longhorn in four years to win, with Dallas Griffin taking it home in 2007. This is a huge honor and there is nobody more deserving than Sam, who will now have a locker and jersey put up in the Moncrief-Newhaus Athletic Center as a national award winner. In other words, it's a big deal.

I recall reading a post entry
in the preseason by a waiter in a Dallas restaurant who recanted the graciousness of both Sam and Emanuel providing signed Longhorn caps. His story of an everyday person being touched by the genuine outreach of the Acho’s carried me through this season. These players are human beings first. And Sam, his brother, and their family are exemplary examples of what it is to be a humanitarians.
I’m proud to be part of a Longhorn family that include the Acho’s. Congrats to Sam and his parents. A well earned award.
I remember that too
The whole family is a class act. I can’t wait to watch him play on Sundays. Congrats to him—he is racking up the trophies.
Well Done Acho, Well done
