Great article
But what would this mean for our Baseball program? Were in one of the best conferences in the land and the rest of the Big 10 schools couldn’t really compete with us. I’m assuming we would still keep our games with Stanford and Rice and our occasional Long Beach St game, maybe throw in a Cal State Fullerton game aswell so we can keep our players sharp for the CWS
Yup
Three things: (1) Yes, great article. (2) Baseball is a big issue, I think. (3) The writer dismisses without justification the prospects of California, which is not going away soon as an economic power, even as screwed up as it is. When the economy is going strong, California is an enormously strong economic engine. The strongest in the country, no question.
You ain't hurt...
Somewhat Agree Peter
Things are real bad out here and knowing the state political setup, California needs the economy to rebound HUGE since we rely so heavily on Income Tax. Also the State Budget is largely dictated by propositions that are determined Democratically instead of by representatives like most states, making it extremely difficult to balance the budget.
That said if UT joined the Big 10 they could have schools choose btw hockey and baseball or both then have a Hockey league and a Baseball league different from Basketball/Football.
Would that address the baseball issue?
